Let's discuss how shit the story mode was

Rashid was the only good part. He easily stole the show (not that there was much to steal).

Necalli didn't die. The section where Ed and Balrog are in Hong Kong during his story mode is after the Shadow Fall story. Just like Ibuki's story mode ends after the Shadow Fall story.
Everything with Ryu was just an epilogue to his alpha 3 story. Street Fighter 4 was retarded because alpha 3 already had Ryu further along with regards to getting over the Satsui no Hado and made it as if a3 never happened.
Nash drained Bison's super psycho power.
I agree that the story is stupid, but it's par for the course with Street Fighter and you fags still can't get it.
Bison's alt is also his retconned Alpha 3 post psycho drive explosion form.

I honestly got tears in my eyes when that doll sacrificed herself to kill Fang. Just to think what she must have gone through, her whole world must have fallen apart when she realized that she had been used all the time and was seen merely as a tool by the Shadaloo. Although she couldn't change the evil deeds she had done until that point for Shadaloo she could still be true to her heart and with great courage she was able to make a big statement; Robots are people too.

People thought it sucked? I thought it was pretty serviceable for Street Fighter, let alone a fighting game.
Though, I hated how Necalli was pretty much useless. I thought he was going to be the next Akuma, but he's pretty much a 1-shot villain.

The story tries to tie together the very convoluted SF canon and it does a half-assed job at it. The series has had much better stories told about it in the past (mostly the Nakahira mangas) and the story mode looked like it was building up to something, which ultimately didn't happen. At least they did provide some background for the Illuminati's existence and Rashid had a pretty good story of his own.
Necalli had a great design and a pretty great build-up revolving his character. The mysteries just kept piling up on his story mode and character interactions and it definitely looked like he could have been at least a boss character, since he's kind of supposed to fill Akuma's shoes in the game. And everything went to waste.

It's weird. Here is a franchise I would love to love, but Capcom just won't let me. I love the gameplay, mind you, but they keep fucking up the characters and lore. Every new iteration, they make the characters more bland and less offensive/more generic. Their interactions are at an all time low quality. Everyone just praises everyone. Beat up Chun Li as Ryu? It was complete shit, but the story for these games has always been shit. It was like watching a bad 90s movie about the series. An Arcade Mode would've been a better way to spend time and resources, but capcom's too dum.
That said, I'm not actually angry about it. It was endearing in a way, for being so fucking bad.

Would have been better if they did all this in anime format like SFIV. Some of the scenes like the Kazuki Estate scenes looked pretty good but it looked more shit toward the end. Some of the character interactions were pretty fun

I honestly liked the story, it was fun and cheesy. It was nice to see the World Warriors actually interacting and acknowledging their relationships. Also liked how the Dolls all had unique moves. And the series mascot actually did something plot relavent for once.

Literally one of the LARGEST POINTS of MK9's story is that EVERYONE FUCKING DIED.
MK's plot (up to MK9 rebooting everything) was basically an extended joke, of course everyone came back all the time in those.
Now you have an actual fucking resurrection as a plot point, now that Raiden can save MULTIPLE people from dying, all the tension in the story becomes next to fucking worthless!

Oh cmon. I agree that MKX has some good moments but the Special Force kiddies were the worst part of that game.
Kotal Khan and his crew had a way more interesting story line and development and they get shoved to the wayside for the Special Forces kiddies to get the torched passed down to them in the lamest way possible. That doesn't matter. Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Jax, and Johnny Cage, in MKX were either revenants or in the process of becoming revenants, but returned back to normal.
Judging from how Johnny Cage was fucking dying or dead when he was being made into one, not to mention how Stryker, Jax, Sindel, and Kabal, who all died in MK9, were revenants in MKX, it's pretty obvious Quan Chi has to kill them to totally revenant them.

The point he's making is that MK9 reset things specifically to get away from the nonsense of hackneyed writing and death being meaningless.
That said I think it's a poor point to make. Raiden isn't the main cause of the resurrections. It was backfiring magic from Quan Chi's pool combined with what Raiden did that caused it. And now that Quan Chi is dead it's implied there's no other way to bring the others back. Of course it probably won't stop them from having some kind of mcguffin in the next game, but it's not as if Raiden can just cure people of Quan Chi's magic.

MK9 is a reboot and retelling of the entire story where death is obviously meant to be taken more seriously than the previous games. If it was just as stupid as previous games, we'd have Mokap still unlockable.
