More on the point though any of them can be considered "the best". Demon's souls has both the best atmosphere, and it being the first lead the foundation for all the others, dsa1 has a really good single player/pvp, Ds2 has a messy single player with really good moments (Drangleic, dlcs, heide, dragon shrine,) and a lot of 'okay moments in between, but has the most agreed upon best pvp where the balance is near perfect. BB has arguably the best singleplayer out of the games with a mediocre pvp. Ds3 is the most consistently good game with even the games horrible moments like farrons keep being bareable as it still throws a bunch of new enemies, great exploration weapons, along with a great boss. I personally think it has to do with whatever game you played first however.
If we're just talking about the trilogy:
DS1>>DS3>>>>>DS2
And I also think that's the order you should play them in.
I really, really don't understand the contrarian hate for 3, other than bosses are WAY too easy in the first half, I think the environments and lore make up for it. I think 3 is more entertaining but 1 is more rewarding. They are really similar which leads me to believe you have got to be hating for the sake of hating if you love 1 and hate 3.
And 2 is fucking garbage but its nice after you beat the other two. The combat feels weightless, environments and enemies don't make sense together, everything is fucking a mess.

BB's base game is also pretty terrible, if it wasn't for Old Hunters this game would be worse than DaS3.
The combat is dull and boring, yes we get it, From wanted fast gameplay, but in exchange any and all form of difficulty was thrown out the window.
There is no content outside the chalice dungeons, which are great because the base game offers nothing.
Only 2 bosses fights are actually good (Ludwig, Laurence) and every other fight From forgot balancing and made them a joke to beat. Orphan of Kos? He's a sick boss, too bad from lets you chain stab him from infintiely in phase 2. Maria? I love her theme, shame i can't listen to it more because she also attacks after being staggered meaning you hit twice and then shoot for easy riposte and repeat this until dead.
Zero replayabillity, and this is mostly the fault of the game's linearity.
It's only claim to fame is it's weapon variety, but even then most weapons simply outdo others that you have no reason to use them unless you want to be a special snowflake. Why use Rakuyo when Saw Spear and Saif do signficantly more damage as dex, why use anything outside LHB as quality, and why use anything that isn't Pizza cutter if str?
DaS has a much better SP game than BB.

W&K aren't different enough to make the dynamic interesting like O&S. With the latter, it is viable to go after either and exploit their different speed and fighting style.

Also the first Ruin Sentry melts at any kind of damage, even with a non-upgraded weapon. Even the worst player could get him down to 10-15%s before the others awaken.
The game teaches you the moveset of one, and you have plenty of time to learn it as well as beating it before the others gang bang you.

The PvP was even worse than the other entries.
Bloodborne objectively. It's the game with the least flaws.
DeS is also a solid answer given the context of it's release and the fact there's not many too many flaws beyond "it doesn't do [game mechanic found in future installments]".

I usually end up fighting one of them (usually Ornstein) while keeping an eye out for the other.

Maybe I just suck, but on my first playthrough, I ended up dying aroun 20 times to these suckers before getting frustrated and summoning in help.

I still say Dark souls 1 is best. I just love the environment, story, and how weighty the combat feels compared to the other games.
Dark souls II is probably my second favorite. I loved the characters and the melancholic vibe it gives opposed to the depressing vibe of the other games. Probably my one nitpick is the enemy placement. First encountered in heide's tower of flame in the center with the 3 old knights. Even at higher levels it's difficult to fight them without cheesing 1 or 2 of them at range first. DLCs are better than 1's dlc too imo.
Never got into bloodborne as much, I didn't care for the quick hack and slash style gameplay. The environment and ambiance was very aesthetic though
