The romance/affection system was complete dogshit. The story was a decent idea with one cool character and a lot of garbage.
Everything else was enjoyable. I loved the atmosphere and the combat and a lot of the locales.
So let me get this straight...
The seneschal is basically god, and god gets bored with life and decides to find someone to replace god. But then Bitterblack Isle pops up and shows that there is something even God doesn't know or have control over and could be beyond god. Then you kill daimon and release him, but then you fight Daimon 2.0 and find out there are more secrets to the bigger truth.
So where is Dragon's Dogma 2?

It wasn't finished.
The same enemies in the same locations every time made replays kind of tedious, but given the nature of the game, having to kill X enemies before they drop Y item required to update your kit, it sort of makes sense, but that doesn't make it any less repetitive and stale.
Still an amazing game.

Not a lot. Loved the game, one of my favourite games of all times.
Ofcourse you could always improve aspects of the game, I'm not denying that.
I really wanted to like it, it has great environments, character creator, and it's combat was fast and fun.
I just really hated the pawn system. If it was a solo game I would have enjoyed it much more. I get that it was kinda the point but I always found them more annoying than useful.

It's one of the rare cases where there were enough tiny problems to make the whole thing unenjoyable. Just too many interface problems, too many small QOL failures, too many strange quirks in gameplay.
I had no idea about the budget thing or what was planned, but it makes things obvious. I always felt like I was playing a game where each feature was missing a second half. Or that no one sat down and did a once-over to see what was working smoothly and what wasn't.
The world and characters are just too boring. Can only play 1 character at a time.

You can't say the game has no content if you haven't beaten all the quests in one playthrough. A lot of the side quests are locked behind pre-requisites that can only be completed at certain times in the story.

Besides, I dont think that the devs are still thee to deliver sequel. To make this game truly good, they would need to gather devs, give them proper amount of time and financial backup and leave them alone to sit and perfect their little child, to produce as much content as possible.
