Getting the materials you need is easy as fuck. You can get a glider, a mini sub and start your base in the first 5 hours. If you dont like micromanaging food and water you can choose to play without it

The building and material gathering is really just secondary. The main meat of the game is the exploration, and it shows. It's very easy to get the materials you need, provided you know where to look.

I didn't really play barotrauma beyond a few minutes as it was too clunky and rough for me, but looking up pics of some of their monsters, shit would be terrifying to meet in first person in subnautica. Like:

Stuttering has nothing to do with mobile. It happens is because of LOD. To many objects are constantly updating their meshes and textures, and reads from hard drive are always slow. Subnautica flies on SSD.
