Your opinion on Mega Man Legends
>>
Had a faggot friend back in 5th grade who would always bring it over to play at my house, he never let me borrow so I never finished it, the fucking faggot.

Just bought it off PSN along with Megaman 8 gonna have a comfy ass time.

It's a great game.
Usually I don't play any FPS game, but Megaman Legend is just great.

Especially the quest when you're donating money to cure the girl in hospital, the quest makes me feel good.
>>
>>343496606
>played 2 but not 1
Should I play 1 or is it one of those games where the sequel blows the first out of the water and I'll only be disappointed?
>>
It's a good game but now forever tainted by being linked to Hackafune.
>>
>>343496606
It's fucking amazing. One of the comfiest games ever made. The second is even better in most ways.
>>
>>343497536
it's fine.

megaman's canadian, though.
>>
>>343497536
I actually played the shit out of 1 and replay it a bit to this day. On the other hand, I've never finished 2. I don't know why, I could just never get into it after a certain point. I also couldn't really get over Megamans voice change to Sailor Jupiter.
>>
I don't like it and I don't understand why so many people wanted a third one.
>>
>>343497564
How much did he have to do with megaman legends even?
>>
>>343497709
>comfiest
For the 14yo me the first game is a mixture of comfiness and extreme stresss
>>
>>343496606
Used to play it when I was 7 or so, great game
>>
it's ok
>>
>>343497894
>extreme stresss
You mean the dungeons right? I remember actually getting lost in them for hours, running low on health, scared as fuck I'll get wrecked and lose all my progress, until I finally managed to find a door to the surface that took me to a random place on the island I had never been before.

That's the kind of stress that made the island itself feel so comfy and safe. Especially the flutter.
>>
i like it based purely on nostalgia, haven't played it in 10 years
>>
>>343496606
Really comfy and visually pleasing game
>>
Amazing game.

Nothing quite like it.
>>
I love it. The setting is among the top ten settings in video games, and it's rare for games to successfully mix light hearted stuff with deeply serious scifi shit.

It inspires everything I work on, the game had a big impact on me creatively.
>>
>>343498498
>getting inspired by a video game ripping off a ghibli movie
Kind of sad desu.

So you're an artist or do you just draw inflation porn?
>>
>>343498646
>implying ghibli doesn't get me going too

Mostly what I'm referring to is the clear dichotomy of there being a connected underworld and bright cheery overworld.

I try to make video games.
>>
>>343498646
>Ghibli movies
>Mixing light and dark

I love those movies but they suffer from serious mood whiplash
>>

This is usually my go-to for that question, but mostly I just want to talk about Mega Man Legends and why the first game is superior to Legends 2.
>>
>>343498498
I can tell that's what they're going for. But honestly I don't have enough good will to buy into a distinction between the two venues.

There is no such thing as a "Cute Tank" and I don't think "Kooky Pirates" make them seem any less horrific while they're leveling a city.
>>
>>343499460
Come on, Tron's tanks have big bug eyes and silly snouts and they make a point of letting people evacuate and keep their toilet paper because they're not murdering psychopaths.

Though I definitely understand. I think the best comparison I can make is Trigun, but it's even lighter than Trigun.
>>
It's one of my favorite games.

I tried playing the sequel on an emulator, but the controls and graphics are glitching for me.
>>
>>343499354
What is that dumb stuff sticking off her butt and also some of the face scars make her look derpy from far away.

Otherwise it looks fine as a up-front mml inspired character.

Also I like them both a lot.
>>
>>343499354
That's pretty nice. I really miss low poly. I wish indie developers would do low poly rather than pixel.
>>
>>343498789
As soon as I saw this thread this shit started playing in my head

Un-boned wires for jacking in to doors and weapons and junk. Part of the changes I'm making to the model involve making those separate objects so it's easier to handle them. They're meant to flow kind of like a scarf, but if they wind up looking awkward or getting in the way of the character I'm not above cutting them. Facial scars are non-negotiable, though.

Liking both is perfectly valid, I just like the first one better. Two explained a bit too much, but it was still godlike.
>>343499839
Thanks! I do too, but I wouldn't really call this low poly... The poly count is actually a lot higher than it should be since it's my first character model.
>>
>>343500090
If your favorite girl is left or right you need to kill yourself.
>>
>>343499639
Sure they say that, but the only people who evacuate are the store owners in the market. People you talk to mention watching Mega Man from their house, or office when the fight in the city was going on. Heck even the store owners that go out into the country still get caught in the Bonne's rampage.

Because come on, the only really sensible place to take shelter from an air armada would be underground. And who would take the choice to hide from orcs by ducking into a dragon's lair?
>>
>>343496606
I loved it when I was 8, it's not bad now, but I have a lot of 'nostalgia blindness' with it. Using l1 and r1 to turn is pretty foreign today.

There's an abridged series of it on youtube if you just want to relive the cutscenes.

Capcom will never re-release them because of VA licenses, I say they just subtitled the cutscenes, because fuck the va anyway.
>>
>>343500109
>Facial scars are non-negotiable, though.
That one over her lip is dumb.

>Two explained a bit too much
Yeah I preferred how little they told you at the end of the first one which really got your imagination going in the best way.

Elysium was a pretty amazing final dungeon imo so it all worked out for me. I also loved all the new designs and I thought the story in general was better as far as the characters and pacing went.
>>
>>343500431
>Capcom will never re-release them because of VA licenses,
No it was because of product placement copyrights.

And they have... like 3 months ago on PSN.
>>
One of the best looking PS1 games. Some people squirms over MGS, but in this game you could see the faces of the characters too
>>343500109
> I do too, but I wouldn't really call this low poly... The poly count is actually a lot higher than it should be since it's my first character model.
I think it's ok to up a bit the poly count if it benefits the model (still reduce it if can). We have modern technology, the important is to keep the style intact, and your is pretty good at that do you have a devblog or something like that?

I memorized...every single question with trial and error. I regret nothing. The mayor's pixel tits made me strong.
>>
>>343498768
Mononoke and Spirited Away seemed pretty consistent throughout. Interestingly enough those are their best films.
>>
>>343500090

>>
>>343500510
2000 something gamepro misinformed me then. I read it was the voice acting holding them back.

And I had no idea they released on the psn, time to go buy a psn card, I guess.
>>
>>343500109
>>343500502
I like the Bonnes, and I like how interactive the NPCs are. But the game certainly FEELS like its' about fighting off the Bonnes up until you open the Main Gate. And in retrospect I think the mayor in your initial meeting, in the library, with Barrel, and that wandering archeologist are the only ones that really address the endboss and the specialness of the island that motivated the Bonne attack in the first place.

In contrast I enjoyed shifting the focus onto the premise of the world's ... Legends. That the game comes to a penultimate climax with archeologists having an existential quandary wondering when they actually started living, because they were artificially generated with memories and cultures adapted to customized areas for them to inhabit. I mean by Barrel's description you'd think he was trying to wrap his head around someone, on the first day they were alive, being old.

I just wish things were better refined so they'd be more indicative I mean yeah the library key dungeons weren't exactly wowing with their historical significance.

wait it's going to be on a city built on a sunk spaceship? I dig that, the ship shape reminds me of the Eltrium from Gunbuster.
Gameplay wise is going to be like the original legends or do you plan to change something?

>>343500502
I preferred the first one because it had more of a feeling of "go find shit in this ruins, blue fucker", while the second managed to get all those new location they didn't felt as complete as the first game single island.
Kinda like Prime 3 compared to Prime 1. It's not a bad game, but the planet hopping detracted something from the world.
>>
Love it, though I'm disappointed at how the 2nd game lost the 1st's really atmospheric dungeons, with that spooky music and the nerve wracking clank clanks

Also anyone who says they entered into the water room and didn't just snipe the invisible sharukurusus from safety above is a filthy fucking liar
>>
>>343500869
>Choosing to play the PC port just because of early 3d looks
>Would rather play the inferior port over the actual version
It's people like you that makes it acceptable for companies to remaster a 4 year old game.
>>
>>343497564
That's fucking dumb, you can still stand by liking someone's previous body of work while conceding they lost the plot and went to shit later on.
>>
>>343501502
Oh yeah I figured that's what your deal was. The island in the first game was definitely superior just for having EVERY dungeon connected in some way. But in the second you have a really varied mixture of locations that are handled really well. It's a mix up for sure.

You're completely right about Prime tho.

Yes, a big ol derelict spaceship adrift on the ocean. That's a cool ship! The big change is a focus on boosting ala Armored Core, one thing that bugged me in Legends was not being able to shoot while using the jet skates, but otherwise it's got a very similar flow.

>>343501512
The clank clanks being lost was probably a result of all the enemies being animal themed instead of just weird metal shapes.
>>
>>343501675
