Club Nintendo forcing people to take the surveys in order to earn coins. 95% of people would just spam their way through them for their coins which is why they stopped caring in the final years and now have a new service that did away with the surveys altogether.
There isn't anything wrong with My Nintendo. You just have no idea how the real world works if you expect to get something for nothing.

Did anything go wrong? You get free coins just for dicking around on Miitomo and logging in to shit once a week. One of the first rewards was a download for a game that'll probably be on the eShop for 3DS. What exactly is missing?

Coins expire after x amount of weeks.
All rewards run for a limited time. So far only coupon codes, WarioWare, and Miitomo items have been added then later removed.
It's to encourage people to spend more money on the eShop. That's it. But so far people can get anything worthwhile for free and minimal effort.
