The stupid shitty part is there's no official request or process to the request. You have to rely on the other store to not be full of cunts.
Most businesses have a system in place where they can see if another location has stock of an item, and then have the system submit the request with the other distro changes that that store has to acknowledge.
The way it works with Gamestop, the dude on the other line can just go "Nah, I'm saving that game for me when I get paid. Get fucked asshole." and there's nothing you can really do about it.
Even if they do send it, they'll pack it with tons of other shit which means the game takes even longer to get to the requesting store and be processed. So it's mostly shitty for the consumer.
