Who is this card really catered for! From what I've seen it doesn't stand a chance behind a 1070, is it for the "casual PC" it has an amazing price point but I doubt it can handle this years games at solid 60 FPS on high. I'm still running a 760 and not playing vidya that much it's killing me to either buy the 1070 or 480 even though we know which is better.
What are you getting?
>>
Mostly aimed for players who aim to stay at 1080p gaming.
>>
Its the "I need to upgrade my card but I have a tight budget" pick
>>
>>343407616

But I don't think this card can hit 1080p solid 60 fps on new gaaaeeems... I'm sure the 1070 can. I don't have a problem atm with 1080p since I don't wanna buy a new monitor... But I want them gooood graphics and 60 fps..
>>
I bought a 480. Then again it was either a new monitor or a GPU so i just said fuck it and bought it.
>>
>>343407776
How is it doing with new games.. Give honest info senpai
>>
>>343407776
RIP your motherboard.

Kill yourself.

>For people who have a tight budget
480 (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WAIT FOR THE AFTER MARKET CARDS IF YOU WANT YOUR MOBO TO LIVE).

>Decent budget/ Willing to chip in that extra dosh for future proofing
1070

>What the fuck is wrong with you?
1080

>Kill yourself goy
1080 Founders Edition
>>
>>343407976
>Wait for the after market cards

This unless you want a legitimate high chance of burning your PC down.
>>
>>343407976
Already have a ps4 for the exclusives and fuck the NEO might as well go with the 1070
>>
>>343407849
Pretty good. Ark runs between 45-55FPS on epic with everything aside from motion blue and Dof checked.
Witcher3 runs at 55-60fps on ultra with AA on/Hairworks off
If overwatch is you're thing runs at 115fps or so on ultra. 60-70 at 150% render scale. At 200% the game runs kinda weird and sits around 45fps
If you don't know what render scale is it's basically down sampling a higher res.
>>
>>343407976
This.
They probably gonna revise the 1080 for a 1080Ti of some shit again when if Vega comes out.
Then HBM hits and both it's relevance and prices will plummet.
>>
It's a Card for peeps that live in 3rd world countries like me. Deal with it.
>>
Its the best card around for its price for 1080p gaming right now.
I bought it,because my last GPU died about a week ago.
Other cards more powerful than RX 480 have higher costs and come without the new Polaris/Pascal structure.Nvidias 1070 and 1080 cost about twice as much and are total overkill if you only plan to game at 1080p.
My advice is if you want to buy this card wait another 2-3 weeks until aftermarket cards come out, or until Nvidia releases their cards 1060 cards for the same price segment as rx480.
>>
>>343408141
Sounds somewhat good
>>
>>343407976
>1080
>what the fuck is wrong with you

You are telling me that there's something wrong with people who are trying to push 4k?
You think that there's something wrong with SLI 1080 for 60fps at that res?
>>
>>343408116
This is only if you have a shit mobo. Even then still wait for the non-reference versions come out. If they come out withen the next few weeks ima return my reference version for a non-reference version.
>>
>>343407505
thank fucking god I didn't wait for the release line and just bought a 390 last Feb.
Would have been so disappointed and without a proper pc.
>>
Stop fucking whining about some dumbass brick. The 480 os trash and we all know it. Nvidia will always beat AMD. Now go splurge your money on whatever dumbass brick and masturbate to the idea of finally achieving 1080/60. Fucks sake you PC retards are the worst.

What about the 1060?

From the leaked info it looks like it blows the 480 out the water, going to be interested to see what the price point is.
>>
>>343408628
OCed 1080 could probably push single card 4k

BTW what's the difference between normal ref 1080 and founders edition?
>>
>>343408848
The card is currently drawing more watts than allowed from the PCI-E slot/Motherboard.

Also protip to anyone wanting to order a card from newegg.

Don't. I ordered my 1070 from newegg at 9 am on Monday, the payment went through instantly and I also selected next day shipping. Here it is friday and I'm still stuck in packaging.

I swear to fucking god.
>>
The RX 480 hits its $200 price tag at the cost of a lot of problems.

The $230 4GB variants with better cooling and power delivery should be worth it. But then they're about the same price as a 970, so they aren't such a great deal.
>>
>>343408848
Reference models draw much more power from the PCIe than standards allow.
It doesn't mean it will necessarily fry you motherboard but it can happen, especially with lower end stuff and overclock is out of the question.
>>
>>343408848
rx 480 draws more power then thought out of the PCI-E slot. Although not everyone that's tested that problem had the same issues. Could be bad batches, bad review samples, who knows. still better to wait.
>>
>>343408586
1080p gaming yeah but at 40 fps maxed out.
>>
>>343409019
>The $230 4GB variants with better cooling and power delivery should be worth it.

I think you meant 8GB. Sadly the only ones that have been tested so far are the 8GB versions, even though that won't make a difference.

Also for anyone whos interested about the 480 power usage:
http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/Power-Consumption-Concerns-Radeon-RX-480

tl;dr A typical PCI-E slot is regulated at a 75W allowance, but the 480 uses up to 88W.
>>
>>343407743
Well AMD cards have a history of getting better with drivers AND newer games will be focusing on DX12/Vulkan which will greatly favor AMD's hardware. I'm pretty sure this card is gonna be grower not a shower.
>>
>>343408997
Next day shipping doesnt mean it gets to your house the next day you fucking retard.
>>
The point of it is to build a cheap pc that can run new games for as little money as possible. It's not for 1080p 60fps gaming you fucking nitwit.
>>
>>343409359
Yes, but his package still hasn't SHIPPED and it's been 4 days you fucking imbecile.
>>
>>343408971
Founders is the reference. You pay $100 on top of the normal price.

Mine arrived today, payed $250 for the 8gb. Been playing overwatch at 1080on highest settings. Really happy with it but im a mega casual. Reinstalled crisis 3 and it ran beautifully as well but again I'm only playing at 1080.
>>
>>343409810
Pretty sure overwatch can run well on integrated graphics.
>>
>the person who made the thread on RX 480 failing PCI-E specifications on plebbit was banned from /r/amd
>amd fans then upvoted a thread claiming that PCI-E specifications limits aren't 75W, but 300W to the top of the subreddit
And I thought /g/ was disgustingly pro-amd.
>>
>>343409293
>>343409082
>>343408997

>regurgitating wrong information

the specification is for mainboard design only, the manufacturers of the boards ultimately set the max power draw which is typically far greater than 75w
>>
>>343407505
Best price/performance. Aimed at first time builders or people looking to upgrade form a shit card like a 750 but want to spend nothing
>>
>>343409853
No idea, all I know is it looks way better than it did on my old one, a 5700? I think that was my old card. Only other game I've tried was doom which I had to run on lowest before but now can run on ultra. Again, I know nothing about cards, it seemed like good value, the reviews seemed good, bought one, really liking it

Durr.
>>
>>343409913
It won't be an issue anyways once aftermarket models hit. Sapphire is going to be using an 8-pin, and its likely that most others will too. Once again the only *problems* are hitting the idiot early adopters.

Nothing matters.

Every piece of technology is outdated within minutes after being invented.

Everything we do in our lives amount to nothing in the end.

The girl you loved long ago as a teenager has found another and doesn't even remember you.

It don't matter, none of this matters.
>>
>>343407505
>I think the $200 card was made to compete with the $380 dollar card

OP if you can afford a 1070 go for it, this card wasn't made for you. It was made for high-mid range PCs beating Nvidias 970 and 980 while being a LOT cheaper. That being said if you can wait I would till AMD releases their 490 or new Fury I'm really interested to see how it will hold up.
>>
>even thinking in the slightest to buy RX480

happy grilling and shit

>>
>>343411271
yea but what if you had the technology to do 2 chicks at the same time?
>>
>>343407743
I hit 60 fps 1080p with my 760 doing mid to high will anti antialising on low in new games. 1080p is not what challenges hardware at this point
>>
So how much better this card is compared to r9 280? and can I use both of them in one PC if I want set up secon monitor?
>>
>>343409019
The 480 is literally better than the 970 so even if it "approaches" the price of a 970 its still the better price/performance card. Unless you are some nvidia only fan boy the 970 is completely obselete in terms of performance in the price range not accounting for power usage temp and all that jazz
>>
>>343409853
Not true, without a decent computer you will be playing at 40 frames at best
