Sam and max hit the road is great, also the first season made by taletale is worth mentioning (this is pre "your choices matter")

Are you interested in Nip shit? There's this old ass PC-98 adventure game called YU-NO, and being a game about parallel worlds, it's got a mechanic that allows you to make what is essentially a save state and reload it at any time in the story; All your items transfer over too, which means you can get an item from one route, then reload the save state you made in another route, and use it there.
