Eliminations aren't the goal in competitive. It is pushing objective as a team. You can win against the most skilled team without even killing a single player. Thus characters that don't push the point or control/deny access to the point are effectively worthless.

I fucking love this game: it doesn't show your kills to everyone, there are like 30 different cool characters to try out, everything is crisp and responsive, I don't even have to be good to win, I just have to follow my team and capture the point and stuff. It's fun to watch friends play too.
