Define reward
because you can use the stock market to become a billionaire. either look up a guide on how to do it during the main story, or just buy a cheap stock in Bawsaq and wait for it to go up, sell it, buy it again, repeat.

The job was that he wanted five cars. The protagonists were keeping them at the garage, and then Franklin, Lamar, and Trevor were going to deliver all five to Devin and get paid - WHEN THE JOB WAS FINISHED. Is that so hard to understand?

We don't know exactly what happened, but it sounds like Trevor wanted more of a payment than they were going to receive, which led to an argument, Madrazo getting his fucking ear cut off, and his wife kidnapped. Yeah, gee fucking whiz, why didn't they get paid after all that?

They didn't even know what they were fucking stealing until Lester came in once he caught wind of what was happening because Trevor, Michael, and Franklin were popping up on all sorts of watchlists for stealing a fucking nuke and planning to sell it to the fucking Chinese. They were in no position to bargain.

The only one I can remember off the top of my head is that if you choose the Revenge ending - the one where you DON'T DO THE DEAL and instead go and kill Dimitri, you still get $250,000 from literally nowhere. Or when you help out Packie's brother Derrick. You're still getting paid, but story-wise Niko is just doing favors for a friend - keeping an eye on Derrick for Packie. Nobody is paying him to do this. It happens throughout the whole story. You getting paid is just a gameplay reward. But story-wise you're getting paid shit, or never getting paid, and Niko and Roman are fucking poor.
Because this game is crap.

You're missing the point so incredibly hard. The point is that the developers went out of their way to not pay you for any of your jobs and it turns half the game into frustration with no payoff, not that the explanations made no sense. It's doubly apparent when Trevor starts with juuuuuust enough money to buy the air strip, but no way to get money to actually put anything in for half the game.

It's Rockstar being post-modern and satirical with the very genre they're most well known for. Dan Houser's usual crap, but applied to gameplay mechanics and content as well as story.
