The styles seem easy to pick up, its just the matter of what each one changes the moveset that it takes a bit to learn.
Ariel is fine but it really seems VERY situational and best for certain monsters

I liked Striker best for SnS when I played Cross, reason being it lets you use 3 arts, and you only lose the backstep attack which isn't that good anyway. Use Circular Force, your choice of an evade(either full evade or battle ready), then either Shoryuken or Blade Dance. Circular Force has I-frames, and if you use the Evade art you'll always have an option open to avoid damage.

It's animation gives it a ton of impact, but I'm unclear as to where it sits on the power scale between the slap and the Lvl 3 charge.

You use Demon Riot, then use the reload art (which also boosts affinity) and riot will still keep on going, thus making it possible to be in sword mode constantly.I thought axe mode was actually pretty useful in 4U, feels much better than it did in 3U at least

The heat gauge punishes the shit out of you for making one little mistake. It seemed neat at first but the penalty for overheating is a really long period where it's disabled and you're stuck on the reduced damage. It doesn't help that the more viable styles encourage full bursts, which trip fucking everyone.
I might be wrong on this one, but IIRC shell damage took a nerf too and there are no more level 5 shots, and only a few (shitty gimmick) GLs with level 4 shots.

Yes. There's offline health and online. Online one doesn't scale with the number of people, it's constant. It's roughly balanced around 2 people though, 4 usually means you're just bullying the monster on easy mode.

Well you shouldn't feel that ashamed. In the full game it's balanced for 2 people because in there you'll have proper armors, skills, and weapons for the specific monster you're fighting. The demo's loadouts are all pretty mundane and low key, so it's expected that you wouldn't be able to do as much damage as you'd hope.

Don't you worry, SnS has a weapon art, a very wide circular slash, that when fully upgraded sends people flying like a superpound or GL shelling. And it charges super quickly, especially with Striker style, and it grants the user invincibility for the entire duration of the animation, so it's gonna be used constantly.

I've mained Lance since Freedom 1. I played a lot of 4U and used a hell of a lot of charging attacks and jumping charges for mounts.
I'm having a lot of trouble executing the charge consistently. I keep doing the counter poke on accident. I could do that shit on a split-second notice in 4U. Anyone else notice this or am I just seriously rusty? And I can't seem to jump charge at all, is that only for aerial?

I've played almost any weapon, GS, SA pretty much sticked as my favourite but I still go back to GL so now and then, those blasts are just way too much fun.
