Trust me, it's really really good. The only thing everyone can really agree is bad about it is the fanbase it attracted, but that has nothing to do with the game itself and you'd have to be a massive cunt to let it be the thing that ruins your experience.
That said, if you've already been spoiled on major plot points (which isn't unlikely) you probably won't enjoy it fully. The game is so much better unspoiled.
Also, make sure you get it with the soundtrack. I'm not kidding, it's fantastic, worth the price of admission alone.
