If that's the case you could probably get three crits on Doomguy along with a bunch more consecutive punches. Also with one of the abilities your character teleports within a certain radius to the enemy, so even if Doomguy is running he still can be hit.
Doomguy would still probably win, but I would really enjoy a fucking slug fest between Doomguy, and a Melee build.
