this is the shooter people born in the 70s/80s/90s were waiting for since approximately 2004 when the pile of shit known as Doom 3 was released, the shooter other companies failed to deliver. Bulletstorm was a garbage consolized ride on a conceyor belt with no jump button, Serious Sam 3 was ok at most with dull environments, dumbfuck plot and unnecessary reloading, Shadow Warrior was on rails, DNF was an abject failure and an insult to every fan of the franchise. Painkiller was probably the closest to pefecrion, but in the end it was too fucking boring.

As great it's singleplayer as it is, it didn't save shit, sadly. Yeah, it's the best shooter since half-life 2, but other devs won't try to follow id's footsteps, because consumers will continue to buy their shitty fps games.

PC version is already almost dead, not even the summer sale could save it. Everyone just plays TDM. The sale did give a little boost to the population but every other mode is still usually empty. Dunno about the PS4 and Xbone version, seems that console players may like it more.

There is nothing bad about Glory Kills.
Glory Kills represent something I've always wanted in the classic Doom game, the ability to actually RIP AND TEAR your enemies. The popularity of Brutal Doom is evidence that many people feel the same way. Punching an imp's head right off its shoulders or smashing a Revenant's head between its shoulder-mounted cannons is cathartic as hell and no more repetitive than simply shooting everything.
