The games disputably have been getting progressively better.
Pirate's Curse got rid of the transformations in lieu of Shantae getting Risky's pirate gear, but it's still probably functionally the best of the games to date.
RR is okay. You'll probably like it if you loved the first one.

I wouldn't say a shit, just underwhelming. It's incredibly short and it simplifies the first game quite a bit. Still, it does fix some of the problems the first one has and overall is pretty enjoyable. 1 and 3 are miles better, though.
RR has the best Shantae, too.

I'm almost 100% sure PSN doesn't have the 1st Shantae. Risky's Revenge is the 2nd game if that's what you meant. As for Pirate's Curse I would say it's welll worth the $8. You can beat the game in a few hours (a few more if you're going for the collectibles), but it's definitely replayable. Plus Pirate's Curse is a lot better than Risky's Revenge
