It is but I can't enjoy them like I did in my younger years. To be fair, nothing seems very much fun anymore, but I just wish some things would last forever

I know what's ideal, but I'm just not strong enough nor able to lead a retro life, so I resort to emulation which is the closest I get. Retroarch ain't that bad

While you're not wrong, only about 5 games are worth playing. Why do people pride themselves virtue singnaling past mistakes is beyond me. Do you keep a shelf with pictures of past dinners you've had too?

I have an option to get myself one of these Sony monitors and I have to ask does it have s video? Does it have more than one input slot? Right now I am using a Sanyo CRT which is better than the RCA I was using but I am not 100% satisfied with it
>>
>>343176458
emulation exists brah

collecting them for the most part is more or less just to collect them, or you really want the pefect experience (sometimes emulation is janky with certain games)
>>
when i realized i could just emulate them on various systems and not have to spend $300 to get acceptable IQ in N64 games.

I always knew, because it isn't "retro" to me; I grew up with those games and never stopped playing them. While I appreciate the amount of work people put into their retro rooms to "old school game", I am really put off by attempting to do that myself. I don't feel a need to make my room look like the 80s, or buy an obnoxiously enormous CRT. I don't think old games and consoles are something that should sectioned off to their own "containment area". I want to play them right next to my 360, PS4, wiiU, etc.
If it wasn't for the Xrgb mini and some great new console mods that bypass the analog signal to output laglessly through HDMI, I would have probably just stuck with emulation. But this shit is pricey as fuck, so I don't expect everyone to go that route.

That's the thing I want the perfect experience and the satisfaction of owning them. Also lets me play the real deal instead I didn't get to experience growing up. My family had a genesis but we never had a sega cd but instead a 32X

If you have a 4k monitor the CRT shaders are breddy fuggin gud now.
>>
Reminder that these systems are retro:

GBA
DS
PSP
PS2
Gamecube
Xbox
Wii

Retro
>relating to, reviving, or being the styles and especially the fashions of the past

Modern games are not designed nor do they look like games released on these systems. The Wii was a fad that died so it's the first of its gen to be retro.

My humble little set up. Forgive the measuring tape there that's from earlier when I was measuring the size of a shelf I need to order

Last year I got myself a new snes with a few games. It's a highlight everytime people come over and wanna play some mario kart or street fighter 2.

Get the original console and then get the flashcart.
You can buy original cartridges after you save some dosh.
If you're playing something like PS1, PS2, PS3, you can softmod or CFW it to run the ISOs.

What I am doing but damn does it get expensive. I somehow managed to snag myself the western release of Shining Force 3 with original case, manual and cover for $150 recently but fuck some games are just stupidly over priced.
I just want to own the original game tho, no cfw, no burned copies. I want the real deal
>>
meh. i have no nostalgia for anything before PS1, and while those SNES/NES games can be fun i can play the best ones on my Wii U, and most other ones are just platformers.
that being said, i love my PS2 and have a giant stack of games, most of them were cheap as fuck and i got them in the last 5 years or so.

I had that nickelodeon radio thing too. It was pretty clutch, but honestly even if I knew where it was I wouldn't put it on display like that.
