It removes the racism, the nihilistic tone of the inside of the moon, several pieces of symbolism lost by newcomers that didn't understand the original, the new art direction gives a completely different tone, and overall it was a bastardization of the original.
There weren't any real fixes aside from being able to fast-travel to any specific hour. That was the only good thing added in the 3ds remake, but it doesn't make up for all the drawbacks.

LISA isn't arthouse, Drakengard isn't arthouse, Mother 3, SotC isn't arthouse. They don't really raise a lot of though-provoking issues, LISA is mostly played off as black comedy, for example, while entire plot for Drakengard was "horrible people doing inhuman things", as said by Taro himself.

Majora's Mask is definitely the most philosophical game nobody would think that Nintendo would make.
It's fucking ridiculous how nihilistic, depressing, and cynical the themes and messages of the games can get. I never thought a nintendo game would teach me that what's on the inside, what the truth is "doesn't matter," but it's the mask you wear and the way people see you is what matters, because that's what has an actual affect on the world.
