I don't see how tp is significantly more edgy than mm. It had a pretty bleak atmosphere and aesthetic but some humor and normal Zelda moments mixed in as well. Hell, you could compare it to future hyrule or the well/shadow temple in oot, or Ikana canyon in mm.

Main bad guy was Ganon/Ganondorf he empowered Zant and Zant seen him as a God.
Ganondorf stayed hidden until the very end though while Zant did most of the evil shit and appeared more so.
I didn't realize Ganondorf was the bad guy until you face but I was like 12 at the time.
I don't understand of TP was edgy though, it was dark but not people getting ripped to shreds dark, it was typical zelda stuff.
