Tried to ride on terraria's moderate success before being left in the dust once Redigit went back to it and released 1.2
Years after "launch" it's still incomplete and with a gameplay progression that makes that of a korean mmo look better
Can be fun with friends, but the same can be said about a very bad case of dysentery
Buy terraria, waste a few hundreds hours on it, then consider pirating starbound

I played one of the first versions fo this game years ago and beat the first boss which I think was an UFO or some similar shit, I was really boring, then I tried it with a friend last year after having exhausted 98% of terraria's content and I got bored after a few hours of playing it.
I dunno, it just felt empty and repetitive, the enemies looked pretty shitty imo. Maybe if I played enough time I'd end un liking it, but I liked terraria from the begining and didn't have to force myself to play it

One of the most disappointing games ever.
Developers hyped it up to be the second coming of Terraria and blatantly lied about it's development for years. What they released was a game with less content than the leaked beta for Terraria.
Even today, after 4-5 years of development it's worse than Terraria was at release.

Not even joking. The developers lied about the game for ages.
They posted "screenshots" of the game for months at a time showing new stuff they'd added. None of the stuff was present in the game at it's release, infact a lot of it either took them years to add or still isn't in the game right now.
They literally had their artist make mock ups and fake screenshots to hype the game. Which in the UK (where they are based) is actually illegal. But no one did shit about it because people who play video games are fine with getting shit on like this.

It's hollow. Even with all the changes and additions they've made, it's incredibly hollow in every regard.
You could probably have some fun on a server building shit with friends and tooting on instruments but honestly the base game has very little going for it.

Combat/quests/gear are all shit. The cycles of "level up to access the next rank of planet!" over and over again get boring as fuck really early on. Exploration is ok. Building is pointless since your ship is your "base". Devs are less incompetent than most indie developers, but still pretty incompetent. Overall just a shitty version of terraria honestly

There's really nothing interesting about either game past co-op play.
If I really wanted to make caves and then build houses out of the dirt and rocks of those caves, I'd just play minecraft.
I'm sure Terraria is just as fun with friends, but the funny thing about video games is that almost any of them can be fun with friends.
