First of all, "Souls" is a series of games, whereas "Musou" is a sub-genre of games. The two aren't comparable categories.
Second of all, Musou games are fairly niche and appeal to a very narrow subset of people. Souls games on the other hand are marketed towards the lowest common denominator, naturally drawing in the larger amount of players.
Having a poll on this is stupid.
I like both and many other fighting systems as well.

I don't understand the rampant hate for either,
Musou games are repetitive, but they are fun to stomp around in, good power fantasy games, over the top overpowered characters which are fun every once in a while. The gameplay is focused more on battlefield control than challenging combat,
Souls games are very much the opposite, slower gameplay, more methodical fighting, you are comparatively underpowered and single enemies can kill you if you aren't paying attention. It's based on subtle story, exploration and that feeling of accomplishment you get after pushing through a challenging area,
Both have their place, and it's okay to enjoy both, fuck off with your detrimental self righteousness and learn to appreciate things for what they are rather than dismissing them out of hand

Musou is about stringing together lengthy combos and trying to cut through as many enemies as possible, Souls is about timing all your actions well so you don't get punished.a lot of the criticism labeled against souls games isn't really valid though, too many people saying "it's clunky" just because you can't swing away mindlessly
