I want to play as a hip socially conscious young black male with friends of various minority backgrounds
Playing as a cop while you have to work within legal parameters can be fun. Battlefield Hardline isn't a very good game but I did find it somewhat enjoyable how it incentivized you to try to disarm and arrest people rather than shooting every criminal in the face.

L.A. Noire is pretty good until you have to take down an army of mobsters or latino gangsters etc. really ruins the immersion they were going for. the body count is actually ridiculously high in that game.
