How is this a problem?
Competitive games should revolve around better game sense and wit rather than mastering purposely obtuse mechanics only added to artificially foster a sense of depth.
Game should be decided based on who is the better player, not who spent the most time mastering said mechanics.
Take CSGO for example, you could be a really good FPS player but be shit in the game, want to know why? Because you need to memorize every single gun's distinct bullet pattern. Where in Quake or CoD you shoot exactly where the cross-hair hit, but in CSGO your bullet is decided by the pre-programmed pattern that is innate to each gun. Does this add depth? Sure, artificial depth. It adds nothing but to the game but deter good players from playing and deter bad players who mastered the ability from leaving.

Because Overwatch shitties don't understand the subtle nuances to each hero possesses and their place in on the map. It's not about which hero is over powered it's about knowing how to counter them.
Take a look at chess, a game since it's inception has not been updated, balanced, or reworked in anyway. You have the queen who can move in any direction and at how ever distance it pleases
and on the opposite spectrum you have a simple pawn who can only move one square at a time and always forwards. All the pieces are available to each player from the beginning just like overwatch has
all the heroes available to the players. Nothing is off boundary. So why can a queen be easily destroyed? Because you learn how to counter her movements, just like you can learn to counter Mei or McCree.
It's about team composition and synergy on the playing field. You have the resources, so why don't you learn to play the proper moves? Check mate.

For one, the game hasn't changed that significantly and for the last half century it's pretty much been standard and only the meta might has changed. My point still stands, some pieces are stronger than others and you have to learn to deal with them and use them. Much in the same way Overwatch has strong heroes and support heroes, you have to learn to use the right tactics and combinations to make a synergistic play to out wit your opponents.

Soldier, even if you use direct hit, is incredibly easy to hit with.
I've found that there's not much difference between bad soldiers and good soldiers (the difference is that good soldiers run away more often), but the difference between bad heavies and good heavies is massive.
Scout is very skill based, to the point that even a slight wobble in how well I'm playing will cause me to either be amazing or shit at scout for however long I play for.

The difference between a bad anything and a good anything is game sense, positioning, knowing when the opponent is at a disadvantage, etc.
Class-based FPS's don't fall into the low skill ceiling pitfalls of other games, like MMOs and MOBAs.
