Will kickstarters ever be trusted again?
I thought the new Castlevania with tits demo was good
>>343034056
No, it's not an old Castlevania so it can't be good.
What are there Kickstarter projects
>>343033936
Bloodstained isn't even out yet though.
Also, who's the faggot on the far left?
>>343034056
>muddy backgrounds
>anime characters
>none of the gothic atmosphere
>shit monsters
>boss is laughable
Total step down from the DS or PSX games.
Who is the new guy?
>>343034331
>>343034273
Probably the Star Citizen guy.
>>343034331
>>343034273
Far left is Star Citizen director. Star Citizen has raised 116 million making it the 6th most expensive video game of ALL time. How this game can live up to that budget, or expectations is beyond me.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_expensive_video_games_to_develop
Why is Kojima not on this list?
>>343034291
All those examples can be applied to sotn
>>343034506
>Why is Kojima not on this list?
He hasn't crowd sourced a game (yet).
Bloodstained is showing fine progress though.
>>343034506
because he didn't beg for kickstart money
>>343034550
You best be joking nigger. The art direction of Symphony is beyond perfect.
>>343034560
Okay I stand corrected.
>>343034291
Bloodstained had DS and PSX games?
>>343034550
SotN's first boss was motherfucking Dracula
Even if that doesn't count, Slogra and Gaibon were more interesting than squidtits.
>>343034291
>>muddy backgrounds
>>anime characters
Sounds like Castlevania to me.
>>343034506
>hating the man who saved video gaming
whoo, lad
>>343033936
How can I, a normal video game player protect myself from them?
>>343034291
Bloodstained had DS and PSX games?
>>343034291
I find it funny how people expect small teams to make stuff large corporations churn out with experienced programers and artists.
>>343034816
The Metroidvanias were all made with small teams and tight budgets. Order of Ecclessia was made for an absurd 500,000 dollars. Most were around 1 million. No clue what Symphony cost.
>>343034806
You know damn well what I mean.
>>343034291
>>343034941
Didnt they still have experienced people from Konami doing them?
>>343033936
As much as I hate Tim Schafer he's gonna keep getting away with it. Next thing he'll do is a monkey island reboot and it'll make 6.6million dollars.
>>343034941
Oh.
Wait, so Bloodstained is just a working title for the next Castlevania?
>>343034291
So you don't like Order of Ecclesia?
>>343033936
Anybody who uses kickstarter is scum
People should only be buying games from prestigious, respected developers like Bethesda
Examples of such games includes Fallout 4 with all of it's DLC and the upcoming Skyrim HD edition
>>343035061
No its a spiritual successor.
>>343034779
Does this look like an anime to you?
>>343035029
Yes. Presumably Iga has hired some of them since Konami fired everyone.
>>343035042
He's gonna keep getting away with it because he's best buds with Sony.
>>343033936
>giving the yooka laylee team a pass
either cover your bases or don't bother.
>>343034989
Super is not a good example to use. That game is also kind of ugly, slow and totally over rated. It's worshiped by a lot of kiddies that grew up on it, same with those who say that MMX was the best Mega man. They are always of a certain age and had the snes as their first console.
>>343035127
>long white haired man, using a big flashy magical attack on a giant wolf.
That's pretty anime.
>>343035261
you're anime
>>343035127
>Does this look like an anime to you?
It's the same style for sprites and shit as Rondo, and pic related is Rondo, so sure, why not?
>>343034056
It's good, OP is just an epin memer and a faggot.
>>343035127
I see we're doing the "it's not anime if it's the thing i like" routine.
>>343033936
People are becoming more suspicious and critical of them.
Too much money has been thrown in the trash but what can you do. People like wasting their money to learn basic life lessons for some reason.
>>343035296
Nah, I'm fat but not funny. So that's not anime.
>>343035198
I agree with your assessment of IV, but still.
>>343035126
So.. not actually a sequel then?
So then comparing it to the old games is.. ridiculous, isn't it? I mean unless they have the entire, if not most of, the people responsible for those games involved.
I played MN 9. It was definitely worth $20. And I didn't back it because I'm not a fucking retard. How much are they gonna be selling Bloodstained for?
>>343034631
>MFW the gif you posted is mostly green and brown
>>343034291
>Castlevania
>anime characters
>laughable bosses
>shit monsters
Oh wow, you don't say?
>>343035198
IV has the best controls, fuck you.
>>343035296
I wish I was anime
>>343034989
It had a great soundtrack.
>>343035430
It has Igarashi anyone else I don't know.
>>343034793
By buying whole games and not demos of games that may never see the light of day, like Skyrim Remastered and Fallout 4 of courseI don't save todds so I have none to post
>>343035325
Rondo's cutscenes are anime. The main game is not. Dawn of Sorrow also had anime portraits and an intro video.
>>343035362
If you mean anime as "any art style ever represented in anime or manga" then that damn near means EVERYTHING is "anime". Such a definition is meaningless.
If you mean standard over designed unrealistic cute girls with bright colors typical of anime girls today, then Bloodstained is more anime. The artist, whoever it is, has a more mainstream anime style background. Miriam is Shanoa through an "anime" filter.
>>343033936
Where's Randy Pitchford?
>>343035665
everything IS anime
open your eyes
>>343035391
That stream was sad. They were dancing around how bad the game was. Inafune has a blank expression. Shouldn't he be beaming that his child is now out in the world? He straight up said he's sorry and that you are okay to hate him.
Where is Comcept HQ anyways? Japan or USA?
>>343035712
The list is Kickstarter only.
>>343033936
where is hideo hackjima?
>>343034486
Wasn't Star Citizen supposed to be mostly out last year?
>>343035656

>>343035198
I have zero nostalgia for Super Castlevania IV and I'd still throw it in the top 5 best castlevania games. Rondo Of Blood was still better tho.
>>343035391
People need to be more critical of this shit. And learn the god damn difference between a producer and a director. So many people on /v/ and elsewhere get them mixed up. People give Inafune credit for MM9 and 10 saying he "still has it".
>>343035430
>It was definitely worth $20.
Don't go full retard. It's a humble bundle game you pick up and forget about tier.
Shovel Knight, Metal Gear Rising, Transformers can all be got for 8-16 dollars and they blow this out of the water.
>>343035917
Nope. Chris has literally no idea what he's talking about when discussing release estimations.
>MFW the guys making Star Citizen have a conference this year named "CitizenCon"
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/15245-CitizenCon-2016
>>343035656
One guy, even if he was the sole mastermind, is not the same as him and the people who reeled him in when he got ridiculous. Because they always do. Look at Lucas and Kojima.
Not that Iga was even close to the sole mastermind, but these kikestarter threads are starting to get old. If people are dumb enough to invest in something in which they will see no economical return, they deserve any disappointment and regret that they get. It's not the dev's fault.
Kickstarter is a bad idea because the average Joe is a dribbling mongoloid. Not because these people are scam artists.
>>343035665
>Dawn of Sorrow also had anime portraits and an intro video.
The character designs (I specifically mean in terms of design, not art style), plot, and arguably the sprites and music, were made much more anime than in Aria as well.
It wasn't just portraits and the intro.
>>343036204
How much is $20 worth to you? Those games can be purchased for that price because they're old as shit. I got them back when they came out. If I felt like waiting to get MN 9 for cheaper, I'd wait.
>>343036278
Iga is key because he's a solid producer. Management of a project is essential. MN9 turned out so bad because of poor management from Inafune and Nick Yu.
We do need to know more of the people behind it. I assume that Iga was able to hire some since they were all fired, but I don't know. I know their programmer guy with the funny nick name is returning.
>>343036465
20 dollars is "good game on steam sale" tier. I never buy any game at full launch price. Usually each sale I spend 60-100 dollars on a series of games.
>>343036410
I don't remember the in-game graphics looking any different.
>>343034097
>he likes non Metroidvania's
Look at this faggot and laugh
>>343036410
>not posting the superior boxart
>>343034291
man, you are trying too hard. Keep crying mighty faggot.
>>343036674
Some of the character sprites were simpler than in Aria despite being larger and having more colors to work with. This applies to Julius in particular more than anyone else.
There's also the odd thing like pic related.
Add Peter Molyneux to that lis
>>343033936
I lucked out. I funded Shantae: Half Genie Hero and publisher XSEED is making a limited edition physical copy. All the gameplay trailers are looking good too.
This will probably be the only kickstarter I fund though.
>>343035917

>I sorta get annoyed when people ask me "where is star marine? (fps module)... that was 2.0, that is 2.1, we already have walking, flying, shooting...
>PIPELINE
>clothes..
>mocapped animals
>it's done when it's done
>>343035665
You're talking about 2 different artists. Kojima is obviously the better one while bloodstained looks like generic trash like dawn. Don't claim to be symphony of the night inspired and not hire the most important aspect of the esthetics. Especially when you earned millions and a publisher
>>343037859
Kojima was busy or under contract or something.
However I really wish they could have gotten the artist for Order. They were GREAT.
>>343034291
>Step down from the DS games
You mean the gba games? Because the only above average Castelvania game on the DS was Order of Ecclesia
>>343036083
The world will end before the general population develops a functioning brain. You might as well just live out your life and give up on the rest of us. You'll be much happier.
>>343036810
Boy Konami sure was stupid
>>343037962
>a Touhou fangame is closer to Castlevania style than a Castlevania spiritual successor
Remember Project Phoenix?
Such exciting times, they even reached the Kraken stretch-goal!
>>343038550
Thank god we got to fight INSIDE THE KRAKEN! I don't know what we would have done otherwise.
>half are gooks
Remember, gooks are the Jews of the East.
>>343039165
Japan is an enormous part of the video game industry. What did you expect?
>tfw I've never given money to a kickstarter.
feels good man
>>343035917
It's funny because the Star Citizen fags here defend it by saying a 3 year dev cycle is pretty short for such an ambitious game.
>>343039529
>6th most expensive video game of all time
That thing better suck my dick, otherwize there's no way it can live up to expectations.
>>343034486
>Cawadooty marketing costs are 4x the cost of development
I hope actvision get destroyed and take blizz with it.
I fail to understand how anyone can't see through the Star Citizen scam. And I just heard that apparently people are still pumping money into it? The fucking game isn't even out yet, why would you pay more anyway? Are they addicted? Is it compulsive? I just don't understand what compels someone to keep sending money into something with no return.
I ask how long it will take to John Romero be part of that group.
>>343039847
>"He made Wing Commander"
>>343040134
I mean, he at least had the integrity to realize he should cancel the Kickstarter when people saw there wasn't anything substantial. He said he'd come back with actual stuff and restart the Kickstarter when that happens, so hopefully that means he's actually dedicated to making it.
>>343033936
Add Randy.
>>343035042
Do you hate Monkey Island?
>>343040723
who?
>>343039847
>If we give the people who made Wing Commander 100 times the budget, it will be 100 times better.
I thought broken age was good. It lived up to it's initial promise of being another solid point and click adventure. I didn't back it though.
>>343033936
con-men offer false promises and otherwise manipulate people into believing them.
Your image depicts a few comedians who deliberately make trash that is clear to every last pair of eyes on the planet as pure trash then they post it on a comedy website, some people find this funny and give them money.
Aint a con.
>>343040824
Randy Pitchford
>>343035813
1) He probably mentally checked out because his job was done with the kickstarter promo video. He's a businessman not a game developer or designer. He didn't even create megaman really. He was brought in for token demos for their documentary and just so he'd be informed for interviews/shilling the game cus he was the face.
2) What kind of silly question is this? It was clearly a game made by Japanese devs... so... it was in... Japan. They hired a few white people to serve as community managers and stuff. One of them was that shitty trans lady that tried to insert her political views into the official forums and stuff.
>>343041206
No, anon. People take them seriously.
Hate to break it to you, but people are fucking stupid. Welcome to life. You clearly haven't been here long.
>>343033936
Why is Chris Roberts on that list? Are you Derek Smart in disguise?
>People are still giving kickstarter games money
>>343041806
Some of them deserve it.
>>343041487
Inafune is the CEO of Comcept. And he did designs for the game.
>He didn't even create megaman really.
Or at all, in any shape or form. Akira Kitamura did.
>>343041568
I'm just pretending to speak to the defense of stupid people by imagining that they actually pay for a positive service.
>>343034631
Please tell me this is a joke post.
It's gotta be that or you're fucking blind with delusion.
Star Citizen backers are very strange and repulsive.
>>343043237
>;)
>>343043237
They're fairly human.
Imagine if you got drunk and gave some passing merchant a good deal of your money because he promised he would come back five years later with a really cool wagon he would make with all(a small fraction of) the money, and if you paid him again you could ride it.
Imagine you heard somebody else, a few years before the merchant was due back start to express doubts and wish he had his money back as he didn't think the merchant would return at all. Or that his wagon would be made out of rotting wood.
This a) makes you question your own decision making
and b) makes you feel the eyes of the rest of the wagon anticipation club on your back, if you don't speak up they might feel you agree with him on some level
So you attack the skeptic, because it is easier to believe that our stupid decisions will work out eventually than to acknowledge our own faults and adjust our future behavior accordingly.
>>343044192
I've seen Mega Man fans jump through so many loops to say that Inafune was the creator of Mega Man. They can't admit that they were scammed by a producer.
>>343035127
Oh it's anime, it's just a "not-too-shitty style" of anime.
>>343045173
>>343044374
To be fair, a lot of publicity and shit lied to us and told us he was the creator.
I remember specifically that G4 documentary in Mega Man Anniversary Collection was mostly focused on him. Implying that he came up with megaman by himself and implying he had a ton of control over the games.
>>343045529
Yeah, I saw that. You'd think that Inafune was director for the entire series based on that.
>>343034941
>The Metroidvanias were all made with small teams and tight budgets. Order of Ecclessia was made for an absurd 500,000 dollars. Most were around 1 million. No clue what Symphony cost.
Almost all of them used assets and materials entirely recycled from previous games, mostly Rondo and SotN itself. Probably Bloodlines and Chronicles/Super as well.
Bloodstained had to be built from the groud up with only a couple of devs who'd worked on Castlevania before. Curry is probably doing his best, but one man can only do so much.
>>343045953
>Probably Bloodlines and Chronicles/Super as well.
The only sprites from them that get re-used are Slogra and Gaibon. Which are fucking cool looking sprites. Only problem is that re-using sprites causes a clash of art styles, like here.
>>343033936
what the fuck is con
>>343046194
Well they probably reused Eric's spear in some fashion somewhere, at least. Can't remember where though.
