In Persona and the Megami Tensei series in general, it's best to not get attached to your demons and personas.
After a demon/persona levels up enough, it'll need more and more EXP to level up, so their level factors into their usefulness.
So yeah, try to fuse a lot but don't get carried away, only fuse your favorite demon when it starts to become less useful.

Despite what some SMT fans may say, Persona 3 is actually one of the best places to start. Unlike P4 it has a balance between the darker toned mainline games and the lighter toned spin offs. I haven't had an excuse to post this chart in a while but maybe it will help you out.

No, physical in SMT IV sucks. Strength scales like shit for most skills and the only bonus is your physical sword attacks do more damage.
But dex gets bonus gun damage and DOESN'T scale badly with skills, so it's basically objectively better.
Dex/luck is just overall the best way to go.

So I started my first foray into the Persona series a few days ago. Starting off with Persona 3 FES on my PS3. This game is absolutely incredible and has blown me away in every department. Complexity, challenge, music... the balance of half a hardcore dungeon crawler, half social rpg dating sim works to well. I find myself binging hard in dungeons, then spending 5 days straight just completing social links and making new personas.
I cantknow believe I've never played these games before. Sure the voice acting and story are a bit cheesey, the dialogue is really rich and the characters are prettt complex.

The forced social bull shit is annoying.
The repetitive nature of these dungeons are a little annoying.
I like the mechanics, outside of the social stuff for new Personas.
Storys pretty okay so far, nothing spectacular.
Don't care for waifu shit but all the women so far are annoying as fuck.
