There have always been women in the games industry. Hell, I forget her name (as I do most developers) but a woman is responsible for point and click CRPGs at Sierra / Lucasfilm . Lots of early devs were women and some of them are working today in the industry.
There are women who work in the games industry who go in, do a great job at their tasks, and come the fuck home same as anyone. Some of them get harassed, but much like guys who get harassed and picked on by jerks, most of the time it is solved with a thicker skin or putting someone in their place. If they get groped or treated like shit, that's one thing, but otherwise they aren't going to ruin anyone's life over 'microaggressions" or accuse anyone they dislike of "mansplaining". They don't do any of the cancerous, politically correct nonsense, yet hold high positions (ie management, in production and the like) . Those of them I've spoken with hate the SJW stuff and identity politics as much as the rest of us. They're the unsung heroines of the gaming industry and they're fucking sick of the loud streamer/gamer chicks and their walking simulators who demand special treatment because of their genderqueer vaginas.
