if you're a male that plays as a female then I can't take you seriously (as a man). It's just really really weird. If you say it's because you'd rather stare at a female's butt all day rather than a male's, then you need to go out more.
The only time this is acceptable is if you don't have a choice...but any other time you choose a female over a male... well, you need to evaluate yourself -- you might be the wrong gender in real life.

If the female option has clothing and a body type that I like, I'll choose that. I'd prefer it if that were the case but it rarely is.

In Pokémon, unfortunately the Female Trainer is always much better designed, and in the case of XY has more customization options

Honest question here: how many of you actually *want* to be a girl? At what point in your life did you decide that?
If it's some RPG with gender-specific dialogue, VTMB for example or less so Fallout New Vegas, I'll try out both genders to see how they thought of different ways to take advantage of the decision. Also sometimes females have cool outfits, puts you into that immersion.
But if it's a meme-choice like Pokemon or an mmo, male. It means nothing beyond maybe some kind of internet avatar, and I'm not going to lead people on that I'm a girl.
