And Conversion and Colour Change clearly shows you what type the Pokémon becomes so it doesn't affect the difficulty at all.
If this UI shows fighitng move as Super Effective when you're facing Zoroark then that's obviously a problem, but there's no reason to assume that. As far as we know, no actual difficulty is lost, it just shows you stuff you could already know anyway.

The type chart was always in the manual you got with the game. Manuals aren't really a thing anymore, so they just put it in the game. It's not a dumbing down thing, it's a matter of convenience.
Besides, from what I recall, it doesn't work on pokemon you haven't fought before or abilities that change that shit up. So it's no big deal. The only people that are kicking a fuss up about this are mad that a kiddy game is easy.

On the one hand this does dumb it down, but on the other there are like 800+ Pokemon as of this game. I could remember all their types and shit back during gen 3 but now there are just too many of the fuckers for me to want to bother. You can usually tell their type just by looking at them but that's not always the case.
I'm fine with it. That said I'm not super dedicated and missed out on X/Y and B2/W2. For us Pokemon CASUALS this is okay.
Though really it might be better if it just showed the typing of your opponent, that way there's still some reliance on the the player's cognitive ability. Any player should at least be able to learn type match ups.
