I really hated KH2 overall. Too many intrusive cutscenes, and gameplay, controls, and level design took a MASSIVE nosedive compared to KH1. KH1 felt like having fun at a Disney themepark as a kid, KH2 was filled with terrible empty corridor "worlds"; best example is just to compare KH1's Hollow Bastion to KH2's World That Never Was. HD Final Mix fixed things, sort of. It's still the worst of the major games in the series.

BBS is literally deck o' Surges, dodge spam, and maybe hold-the-button-whenever-to-awesome Shotlocks. Could literally instruct a child to mash square and press triangle whenever the bad guy isn't moving. Doing anything else is pointless as enemies don't even react differently to any of the 101 Commands - the remotely cool ones are just flash - and worse, you get punished
KH2FM gives you a wide array of tools in combat, and though you can get away with guard/dodge/Reflect spam and combo whenever bad guy isn't moving, you can do better if you're clever

this isn't remotely true at all, you clearly haven't done anything in BBS/FM except use the most efficient skills. take out all your surges, equip only one curaga, and use other commands. requires a totally different playstyle, especially when you get to the final worlds. stop playing with zero graviga and magnega and use other commands.

For the overall package, sure I agree, but for the gameplay alone I have to go with Re:coded. The amount of customization and tweaks you have are unparalleled in this series. I also love how each keyblade is viable and not just straight outclassed by new ones. Each one has a set of skills that cater to a style of play. The only one that outclasses all others are the final one you get that has the skill that allows you to hit any enemy from anywhere as long as it's targeted.
Also Traverse Town is the best world in any Kingdom Hearts game. This is part nostalgia since I played the original around the time it first came out, but I just love it. The music is so calming to me.
