I don't think it's very good at all singleplayer.
Multiplayer is where its at! You and your friends building up a super base or leaving ruins all over the map once things shift into endgame and half the world is uninhabitable.

I've tried to get into multiplayer over and over and over, but I just can't. My pace is too much slower than everyone else's. I'm sick and tired of trying to build a nice expansion to the base that doesn't look like complete dogshit, maybe setting up a flower room and a few fishing spots so we're not starving for potions and everyone starts going

I would never recommend for anyone to play this on too high a resolution. Shit starts getting way too small and it becomes a pain in the ass to build and you can see enemies spawn onscreen and so on.
I'm talking 1280 by 720 MAXIMUM (if that's even an option), and probably lower than that.

Starbound is the opposite of Terraria. Looks pretty and polished at a glance but it has nothing in terms of meaningful content.

Planet Centauri might be neat whenever it gets finished. The UI is sort of shit but the enemies are way more interesting to fight against. Like the very basic zombie can swipe at you but it also has a leap and a neat projectile vomit attack. And I really like how you can build background blocks of anything without having to make seperate background tiles or fool around with wires.
