Why do people shit on this game so much I enjoyed it a lot and in my opinion it had more memorable/original quests than Skyrim

The Inn of Ill Omen was enjoyable. Cozy innwhere you can sell stolen goodsbeing troubled by undead and skeletons. Run up the hill, go into the cave and kill the necromancer.

The real answer is that the pre-release buildup was mostly fabricated. Radiant AI didn't work like they said it would (seriously this was their whole fucking "thing" and they botched it), the combat system was weak and archery wasn't useful despite promising that it would be finally, the world's scale was fucked up.
Oblivion was definitely fun from time to time. But it overpromised and underdelivered.

You can save him. Not a fluke, an actual bonus objective. If you do, he'll continue on in the campaign complete with a path. He follows to Helm's Deep (pic related), then splits off with Pippin and Gandalf. He's already manning the defenses when Faramir shows up in Minas Tirith. personally I can enjoy each of the games, but I do not for the life of me understand how people can -hate- oblivion when it has one of the best magic systems, and you can literally make your own spells.
skyrim by comparison is pretty bad with this, but at least you can make 'MP regeneration ring +9001%/sec' and those unarmed gloves with such a boost it can one shot dragons and judo flip every other npc with "v.a.t.s" animations.
if I had to guess at the real reason they don't like the games further and further back, i'd say its the graphics (and slow reduction in size of towns...), and your first game was probably halo or cod, compared to sanic and mario from back in the day. or even further with space invaders, pong and arcades.
