Not really, it's actually pretty annoying that i have to sit in the corner and wait for them to walk by so i can progress. Same problem as Amnesia and Outlast, you're not allowed to fight and once you get a look at what they actually are they're not scary

Spooky teleporting guy and the fish were scarier than any of the enemies.

It was mostly psychological horror since majority of enemies encountered were blind. Can't say the devs previous games are that much comparable since they're survival horror

That's totally different, one was his mind coping with the drastic change, something he had no control over. His actual thoughts which he could control are another story. The part you described was done well, him acting like a dumb blond by the end of the game was done really poorly.

Its my favorite Frictional Game. Couldn't put it down. Plot was stellar and the sense of helplessness and futility was great. The enemy variety was good, if they only had two or three monsters I'd rather they not have monsters at all. It was neat seeing how the WAU affected these people and machines.

If I have to rank them, SOMA > Black Plague > Amnesia = Overture

It's exactly what it is
You go through some levels and you have to progress through the portals you activate with some particular spheres you have to find before you can interact with the portals
All of this while revisiting familiar places and levels highly inspired by Overture and Black Plague which use the same assets
It's nice because there are some messages in the loading screens and there are some moments like 4th wall breaking and stuff like that
You see some of those levels in the fanmade sequel developed as an Amnesia mod Penumbra Necrologue, which isn't so bad

Most of the setting is Labs and unlike Overture you have no defenses
It's a bit forgiving since the enemies will take a pretty long time to kill you but it's absolutely fantastic

I liked the story. The typical Amnesia gameplay didn't exactly stick with the whole body horror / cyberpunk thing and it felt like 2 completely separated things, but i liked it.

Firewatch had amazing build-up. Just kind of a meh pay-off.

Which I get was kind of the point, but you know... They probably could have strung us along a bit longer with thinking that someone had actually killed those two girls, instead of abruptly revealing they were fine.

And collect items. And pickpocket people. And knock out guards. Amd fight monsters. And map out your environment. And use arrows to extinguish torches, create moss, pin ropes to ceilings etc

Definitely not what a walking simulator is
You can die multiple times and you have to actually put some thought into exploring and finding the items that you need to progress with the game
There's also the fact that multiple enemies have different behaviours and you need to stealth your way through
Unlike A machine for pigs you can interact with stuff, throw chairs around, play with the food in the fridge and so on
Walking simulators barely have any interaction with anything and you can't die in pretty much all of them, focusing a lot on narrative without giving a shit about the experience and having limited sized areas that fit well for your inability to sprint or walk faster
You also have back and forth conversations, meanwhile all walking simulators I know show the character being simply the plot device that allows you to press the button to hear the recording, open the diary so the voiceover starts and getting to places where script start

It was also fun to look at the map and navigate the park. Imagine how fun games like Skyrim would be if you had to buy maps and navigate on your own.

I liked running frantically through the underwater section, and the idea of uncovering the WAU's twisted perception of preserving life, but I'd agree that some of the chase sections weren't as necessary when you were already occupied with basic navigation and searching through documents.
