Usually small games get away with it because nobody even bothers to check the before and after prices. GTAV pulled this shit on one of the sales IIRC, I think they cut down the price but bunched up a lot of shitty Online DLC stuff nobody gave a fuck to still keep the base game at the same price.
None of the games i want have a decent discount.

The former turns the entire sale into pure milquetoast deals which it already has been for awhile. any great deal has been a 'great' deal for years now, if you don't have said game you didn't want it. the sales fairer but there's no flash sale to drive temptation to impulse buy for endorphin rush, you just check the list of sales, and that's it.
the latter has just made every other part of 'trading' tedious inconvenient and not 'worth' it unless you are some stupid idiot who thinks it's a 'business'. can't easy trade cards to your friends, can't easily sell surplus cards, cards gem conversion value terrible, booster gem cost inflate to hell. you can't even sell a holiday card because it will be 'on hold' longer than the card exists. You can't easily give your dupes to friends, and you can't easy sell them to other people, all because better to make everything as tedious as fuck rather than admit the Russians are scum.

keep in mind it uses a mega server (merged servers) from the start so it can hide it's playerbase numbers easier. second it's e4 presentation annouced they are 'removing leveling' (really just a Gw2 style the game now magically levels you 'up' to the region you are in regardless) it seems to be jsut throwing every possible idea/suggestion regardless of how viableto try and keep what they have.
