I really wish they made a remake of dq9 on the 3ds with teaked online multiplayer and some changes. It's a comfy and fun game. Maybe throw in some named characters for party members.

i completed the original ps2 version. and got it for pcsx2 for dem pretty graphics.
but it saddens me that they took out all the va from the android version. it actually runs really good even on shit phones and they redesigned the interface to work decent on mobile.

Does the jessica route have to be built up or is it just a yes/no choice at the end of the game? Also, as a guy they never beat the game because his save got corrupted, it the 3ds version ok to get or will I be pissed off at tons of cut content or something? I stopped at mole king.

I haven't played symphonia or X. I like the turn based combat, it was the best at 9,when they world scatter around and attack or cast spells even you and them to. They would also run towards the enemy and hit their bodies. In 8 they would just stand in a line, which is fine, but they would attack the camera man, or me as the player. That was a little disheartening.

Think about it like this.
>Random battle in the woods
>Trees everywhere
>Party members and enemies can move
>Trees offer cover
So already with that simple turn based dynamic of using cover, the use for strategy is amped up.
If the enemy party consisted of a ranged attacker and a melee attacker, you could have the player lure in the melee enemy behind a tree while attacking it so as to avoid any damage from the ranged enemy.
Environmental spells and abilities could play a use too.
You could knock down trees for damage, boil/electrocute enemies standing in puddles over a larger space, hinder enemy movement with a rain spell in a marsh.
Think simple, gameplay-wise, not necessarily narrative driven.

I think the Rapier is the weakest weapon for Angelo, but common, it's a rapier!
Boomerang is good for the Hero, but sword should be only choice.
Wand is a decent choice for Jessica, but I think whip might be better, Im fine with either. Dagger could have been cool, but no.
Also, I havnt played 8 in like 10 years. This is all based on memory

The 3DS one has rerecorded studio orchestral music that some may argue is better as the original USA version was live orchestra. The voice acting is present.

Sword and Spear are both good for the hero. Courage is must, doubly so if you go with Swords.
Axe is nice for Yangus as is Scythes. Humanity has some good skills in there.
For jessica and angelo, putting points into staves unlocks some new spells. I think Jessica benefits the most from having points put into Staves but I could be wrong. One of the most spells you can get is accelerate from Jessica.
with Jessica, Whips are really good if only for one skill, Twin Dragon Lash. It hits a boss twice and coupled with a high tension can seriously hurt bosses despite her not being as strong as the other party members. Sex appeal is nice but I only ever put enough points to unlock the passive that has a chance of making the enemy skip their turn.
Angelo also gets access to sword attacks but he isn't quite as good with the sword as the Hero is if you ask me. I heard the bow is nice to make him use. He gets a few nice spells via leveling Staves too. Charisma I didn't remember utlizing much but there are notable skills that lower the enemies' tension.
