770 is more powerful overall, 960 runs cooler and has less of a performance penalty when recording gameplay.
That last one is pretty much the reason I went for it, less than 2% impact recording at 50Mbs.

Unless you are in Australia or Brazil I'd say you paid to much.
Graphics cards arent priced after the usual second hand value formula ( original price - usage * condition = current value). It is all relativt to how the new hardware is priced and performs.
Maybe your friend is just to dumb to understand it but even if this was one year ago when the 960 could be priced at 150$ when sold in second hand it is still a bad deal since you shouldnt morally sell things to your friends for full price.
