I never see anyone talk about this game. Was it good?

Good for a rental or a borrow.

It's great, but it is unironically a movie game. It did choice better than any telltale game/life is strange, and it's beautiful to look at aside from some framerate issues. Genuinely scary at points too.

30 bucks or less is a fair price point if you're the type to replay games like this, and it's also a good idea to play this in a group setting. It has a really nice pace that lends itself well to a lot of people watching at once, and the choices are fun to debate over.

played it haloween night with my group of friends.
cousin's girlfriend got too scared and went to bed, the rest of us played all the way through. I think we got pretty much everyone killed.

Was a fun spoopy Halloween activity. Wouldn't buy it though, too expensive for it's length/replay value.

A more polished Heavy Rain, where your choices actually have an impact on the story and not just the ending. Definitely worth checking out if you are into teen slasher horror.

As long as you know what to expect.

As a video game, it's garbage. There really isn't any game play to speak of. It's more of a fun CYOA horror movie

Worth a playthrough IMO
>>
maybe because it's barely a game?

This 3d visual novels don't have much going on, if you have a thread all you'll get is people spoiling you the entire game.

This is a good point OP
Just rent it, redbox or borrow it from a friend. play it through, because this thread is going to be spoilers from now on.
>>
Saw it at my local gamestop for $20
Is it worth it?

Until Dawn is fun, but in an over-the-top QTE movie kind of way.

It borrowed the psychological analysis and exploration from Shattered Memories, but with less subtlety and more dumb teen murder.
>>
I think its fucking amazing. One of the top games I've recently played.

I missed that qte and accidentally left him awkwardly hanging.

Guy could chew scenery like nothing else.
The "psychological" stuff was pretty weak though. "Pick what scares you the most" in a picture book where everything is drawn as gross/scary as possible. It's also another case like with Shattered Memories where the things that you do you largely do because it's a game, not because they really reflect you.

it's on the right track as far as hororr and QTE games go but it's not without its flaws: replayability.

I got probably most of the enjoyment by watching a low-key let's play... There is definitely some added benefit in playing the game, but for the most part it is an interactive movie.
>>
I found it for $10 and played it all in one sitting and I thought it was fantastic. The fact that it managed to make you feel so strongly towards all of the characters really made me like it. And I could've never predicted the twist in it.
>>
>>342778515

I keep saying this. I just want to get the studio and Carpenter in the same room and just force it out of them.
>>
>>342774256

It set a new standard for narrative driven games with shifting stories based on player agency.

Its too bad that Telltale's dogshit formula will always be a successful one in a world where this game exists.
>>
>>342778202
Shattered Memories was a little more clever on that front, asking about grey morality and recording where you were going and looking without directly telling you.

You could tell Peter Stormare had a blast with Until Dawn though. And I did like the first bit where they show you a picture of an old farmhouse and ask about what would frighten you if you stayed there alone. Tad less blunt than shoving a picture of gore and demonic clowns in your face and asking which is worse.
>>
>>342780612
In Telltale's defense, Until Dawn's choice system isn't perfect either.

Considering that the first major choice of choosing who to kill is a ruse, and every character has to get over potential death scenes really bizarrely fast regardless of their relationship with the person who died

it's basically teen horror movie: the """"game""""
