I noticed there are a ton of VR games on steam.

So what, VR is out now?

I haven't seen a single thread about any of those games on here. Where are all the VR-Cucks who furiously defended that shit a few weeks ago now?

Playing their games?
I mean, most of /v/ can't afford high-end enthusiast tech.
So I'm not really surprised people haven't been having real conversations about Hover Junkers, et al.
Been a hell of a lot of shitposting, though.
>>
>>342711121
too busy playing them gaymes and jercking off to vr porn.

fucking great. I actually have the gear VR it's nice as fuck but i bet it's nothing to the vive. i'm jelly as fuck can't afford it right now.
>>
>>342711401
This. I largely avoid posting in VR threads because I know it'll be pretty time wasting as fuck with the shitposting going on. Mostly just lurk those threads for that reason. I still go to them for some laughs.
>>
>>342711121
Don't expect anyone here to actually discuss VR in a relaxed and constructive way, most of them are either butthurt because they can't afford it or autist that simply want every new tech to fail because hating is trendy.
>>
>>342711401
>>342712147
Well let's face it. VR threads are easymodo for trolling. Just parrot some random misinformation and bask in the (you)s.

>jercking off to vr porn.

Is there any of it available? And I'm not talking about animu vacation simulator. Real porn.
>>
>>342711121
I just got done playing a round of Hover Junkers. That shit is intense and I nearly fell over the first time I moved in it. The Vive has a lot of drawback and I mean a lot of them, but my god when it all works it's like going from 2D to 3D all over again.
>>
>>342711121
There's also a section for VR on twitch now, if you wanna see iy in action. I watched some guy playing VR Euro Truck Driver or whatever it is called with pedals and a steering wheel, actually looked pretty neat; Alien Isolation VR didnt look so good. Someday after I finish school and have money again, I'll be able to upgrade so I can try it out myself.
>>
>>342712408

Just do the cheap Samsung VR thing with your smartphone and watch POV porn.

Have a rich steam buddy who has been into current gen VR for a long time now. He even has Oculus DKs and some other HMD and recently got the Vive. He got a bunch of VR games so I figured he liked it. Talked to him about it recently to find out that he refunded everything and sold his used Vive for a really good profit. Summary of why he did it was "It's gay. Not what I was expecting."

market is basically flooded with VR minigames with the expectations of being able to bank on the flood of consumers

except the consumers haven't come yet and they aren't coming any time soon

it's literally like those ghost cities in china

This is the closest that VR has to a killer app right now and it really is something to behold when you're playing it. It has a unique gimmick to get around the limitations of roomspace VR and the guns are insanely fun to use thanks to the tactile reloading mechanics.

only 4 days till you can become VR ready friend

There are also regular games with VR support but they only use the headset. Still a massive improvement to play using it though.

I'd say the problem is things are in flux and devs don't know where things are going to settle yet and don't want to invest in building their big games around a control method that might be obsolete the next year.

It's probably going to get better now Oculus has motion controllers like the Vive and devs can start assuming they're a standard.

im having to much fun playing house of the dying sun and battle dome to respond to vr shitposts lately
>>
How long can you play until your eyes hurt?
>>
>>342714573
They don't.
>The lenses make it so your eyes are actually focusing far away.
>The screen is all you see, so light levels don't strain.
>3D and fov means you're moving your eyes more.

It's more comfortable than staring at a monitor.
>>
>>342714573
Eye won't hurt. Your brain will hurt from boredom though. Unless arcade shooters and unfinished indie shit is your thing
>>
I'm probably going to wait until it becomes a little cheaper. First I'd have to spend ~$700 upgrading my PC then I'd have to spend $1200 on the vive. I really want one, maybe when the prices come down.
>>
>>342714573
You should be more worried about what's in your room than anything. I punched my Wii into the trash while throwing a knife in Budget Cuts. You also get this odd surreal feeling once you take the thing off after playing for a while.

VR has no games.
Fact.

Those look like games to me.
>>
>>342716017
this "wth this room is small"
and "wtf, im inches from my wall" feeling
>>
>>342716356
I've also found myself second guessing everything I look at for a little while.
>>
Honestly the technology is pretty great, but it's really fucking aggravating (although understandable) that there are no games so far with any really meaty content to play. Budget Cuts is the only game I've played so far that actually felt like it was leading to a proper experience. Playing an online game and being able to physically gesture to other people is genuinely magical though, had a lot of fun moments in Battledome with that shit.

To other Vive owners, how good are Hover Junkers and Elite Dangerous? I know Elite Dangerous has a bad reputation, but some games become much better in VR.
>>
>>342716892
I got Hover Junkers today and it's great fun. Not super skill based but easily the best example of multiplayer roomscale implementations.
>>
>>342716892
Rift owner, but Elite Dangerous is pretty good with a HOTAS. It really nails the "I'm really in space" feeling.

Combat is good, the universe is samey and the economy grindy, but it's still a fun game if you don't take it too seriously. Early game is great.

I love it.
>>
>>342717842
Who cares. It's not like there are any games worth playing there anyway.
>>
Every VR game is mobile shovelware, just bad, or doesn't use VR at all because you are in 3rd person view.
>>
>>342718672
Few of them looked pretty good and longer than most stuff out for Vive right now. It's just good to see they've stopped trying to divide a platform that's barely on it's feet yet.
>>
>>342719430
You must not own a Vive or have never played any of those games. Literally nothing worthwhile, gamepads were a mistake and the only real VR is room scale or cockpit sim. The exclusive Touch games also don't seem that great either, just a bunch of standing in place shit. Might as well just go back to playing on the monitor.

At first I was glad Oculus wanted to make their shit exclusive to their hardware (because it actually increases competitive incentive and innovation, according to worked out economics that I've forgotten the link to the proof for, but it's true), but I guess they actually can't innovate so they need all those desperate Vive users who don't know better.

The point is, backtracking on exclusivity is not a good sign. Oculus is actually getting slimy now.

god people who say "Fact." after their statement... Makes it worse that it is the furthest thing from a fact.

Kill yourself

End of the day it means more games for everybody.
