What water levels are actually good?
the mario 3 and mario 64 ones were good
>>342667925
Swimming in MH3U.
>Mega Man
That's pretty much it.
>>342668174
except the Legends 2 water ruin, it's OOT tier bad
>>342667925
Hydrocity is a 10/10 stage, despite being a water level.
water palace sonic
water temple
>>342668087
>mario 64
No
worth it for this song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LudFV61zsaw
I can't remember a single bad one
>>342668778
Water Temple?
>>342667925
That a bad water level and they should be ashamed.
How does megaman even jump extra extra high in water levels? It's a water level, not a low gravity level and megaman is a big lump of metal, not some floating rubber.
Do swamp levels count as water levels also?
If so, then torvus bog and the submerged temple from metroid prime 2.
Also, the crashed frigate from metroid prime 1
>>342669554
>>342667925Vashj'ir was fun.
I fucking despise water levels, but the recent Rayman games have done pretty well with them, especially Origins. Love the music, visuals, and the difficulty isn't too bad while also being fun
>>342670817unless you were a pet class
>>342668526
>Not enjoying that GOAT water level music in Mario 64
>>342667925
Honestly I like the water stages in Mega Man but I don't think they really mixed up the formula. It was just low gravity. It didn't really feel too much different. Even Shovel Knight did the same thing (granted I'm not surprised since all of the movement in that game is just like Mega Man). I think the recent Rayman games have had the best water levels. The stages aren't just jumping higher.
>>342668595
It's been years since I played but I remember that part made me very uneasy
>>342671053How bad was it? I was never fond of pet classes so I've never leveled one that far.
>>342671717
why?
https://youtu.be/LVL34JQkW6Q
>>342671819
i can't even remember why. dark and spooky maybe? now that i think about so were a lot of other places in that game
>>342671918
like when the room goes dark and the chozo ghosts start screaming?
>>342671624
Rayman Origins and Legends was awesome. Remember the water level soundtrack?
LIRA LIRA LIRAA LIIIRAA RIIIIIIII
Kero Blaster.
>>342667925
>HATE water levels
>Having a blast with Sonic Colors
>Arrive in Aquarium Park
>ohgodno.mkv
>You can actually go full Jesus Sonic and run above the water
https://youtu.be/3eRuuvCxYNk?t=55
Perfect.
>>342672638
Not even that, but you have infinite jumps while in the water, so drowning is something you pretty much have to try to do.
>>342670817
get out. worst zone ever made.
>>342668304
That's actually fun. You jump so far away and shit.
>>342672296
Rayman Origins and Legends are some of my favorite platformers. The special music stages were fun, but I think the origin had more of a difficulty that Legends took out. Either way the music was great.
>>342668526
Jolly Roger Bay is a really great level. Dire Dire Docks is complete trash though.
Music is god-tier though.
>>342671602
music doesn't make up for the rest.
>>342674483
FUCK NO
How were you suppose to know to break the tube anon?
Also the jumping was sketchy as fuck in the water.
>>342670817
I actually did enjoy this. It was the highlight of Cataclysm for me and my friends.
>>342668595
Oh man, and Maridia.
https://youtu.be/HaQwZvaJ45Y
OK, we've established that Mega Man and Metroid games have good water levels.
Everything underwater in Breath of Fire
>>342675165
>How were you suppose to know to break the tube anon?
the commercial.

>>342675165
Kids these days...
The map shows you
And what is the gravity suit?
>>342674483
Maridia fucking smashed my ass as a kid because I had no clue there was a different way to enter it, and I tried to get across those sand pits for hours until I just shit myself and went to bed.
>>342675165
>Also the jumping was sketchy as fuck in the water.
you went there without the gravity suit?
>>342675165
I dunno. I figured it out when I was like, 5 years old, and the only game guides i had was Nintendo Power.
If I recall, I thought it'd be interesting to set off a bomb in a glass tube. It worked.
>>342675281
That was awesome.
>>342667925
>>342667925
aquaria
>>342667925
Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 both had some great water levels.
Torvus Bog in MP2 was pretty great. Some of the underwater bits in Phendrana Drifts in MP1 and the sunken Pirate Frigate were pretty good too.
I wish we got more good water levels in vidya, especially ones with a more beautiful, colorful aesthetic.
>>342668304
What? The water ruin on Legends 2 was the best ruin what the fuck are you talking about faggot.
>muh slow
Kill yourself.
LTTP.
>>342667925
Spyro the Dragon 2, Aquaria Towers
Wario Land 4.
Kirby has some good ones.
Sorrow fight :^)
Wind Waker.
>>342667925
pic not related? because it fucking isn't
>mess up one pixel perfect jump
>instant death
the music is the only redeeming factor from this shit heap
>>342680446
>pixel perfect jump
where?
dude Megaman 2 is the easiest one for a reason.
>>342680639
was an overexaggeration, i still don't think instadeath walls and ceilings is a good fucking idea in a low gravity platforming segment
also megaman 1 was even fucking easier, especially for a buster run.
haha!
>>342681134
>also megaman 1 was even fucking easier,
are you nuts? I can actually die in that game, unlike 2.
there's no metal blade in megaman 1 either, i.e retardedly op weapon that deals huge damage to multiple bosses for some reason.
Everything in Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. Those were incredible levels and some of the best points in the game.
>dat Abyss level
I'll never forget it.
>>342668447
I genuinely like it, music abs atmosphere are fantastic, challenging and the best mini boss fight (and boss if you don't cheese like a nigger
Seeing that picture though makes me wish it wasn't as linear.
The ones in Rayman Origins/Legends were alright.
>>342681423
I'm with the other anon. megaman 1 was probably the easiest of any classic megaman.
>>342667925
Go check out Foxeye games.
>>342681683
>Amiss Abyss
You have good taste
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WA2WjP6sgrc
>>342681683
DKC:TF DID have some pretty damn good water levels.
Some of them were kinda annoying but a lot of them were fantastic.
>>342681867
How can you say that Megaman 2 is harder than anything in Megaman 1. Hell Megaman 1 has one of the hardest bosses in the entire series (as long as you don't abuse a glitch, you know the one).
>>342681423
ive only ever died on the yellow devil in megaman 1 and thats because i get so bored i end up fucking up because im not paying attention. also try beating it again without the metal man weapon
>>342681963
DKC:TF is an honest-to-god 10/10. I refuse to subtract points for the load times issues.I'm not a speedrunner.
>>342682054
gimping yourself doesn't change the fact the metal blade exists and makes nearly all bosses into jokes who die almost instantly. also it will never run out from how little each shot uses up so you can use it on regular enemies too.
not the case with megaman 1 which not only has harder bosses but harder stages.
megaman 1 also has this fucker.
>>342669554
Little propellers in his robo feet
>>342682268
It's probably the most underrated/overlooked game of the generation, or at least the most underrated platformer.
It's so fucking good.
>>342682460
It's fucking Donkey Kong it can't be underrated, it's not like it's revolutionary it's just another good platformer.
>>342682913
You'd think so, but barely anyone played it and no one ever really talks about it much.
>>342683041
It was talked about a bunch before and after its time of release, just that you don't really get to talk much about an offline platformer much compared to, say, an rpg.
Also it doesn't help that it was on the Wii U.
>>342671624
Glad this was posted.
Mansion of the Deep is my favorite underwater level of all time.
>>342681924
this game's ost is magical.
>>342670817
All those cata zones were trash, the world revamp was bretty good though.
>>342685023
I agree.
>>342676417
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Golden Sun's Mercury Lighthouse.
>>342670817
If you were a solofag Catacalysm was tops, and Vashj'ir was easily the best part of it.
>>342670817
I enjoyed it since it was the closest I got to playing a naga in an mmo
Bioshock.
