I see you enjoy lag

git gud
The rest is correct.

>waypoints and quest markers
>x-ray vision and enemy markers
Time and time again gorgeous worlds with great detail would be built up, only for it all to be rendered next to useless since the player would only be staring at icons and highlighted silhouettes instead of making out things in the environment, actually exploring the environment by looking at what's around them and finding their way forward instead of blindly following an icon.

>Detective Vision
It was cool when the Arkham games did it, but afterwards every single AAA game had it. Makes me want to puke.
>>342656549
it works in dishonored because its limited it could work in batman if when you use it it only shows the same objects but you just get a close up on it and you need to look at things in a fashion that leads up to you coming to the most logical conclusion like a real detective
>>342656498
Sprinting only works for milsim shit, it doesn't belong anywhere else.

>programmer whose life has been spent studying game design that hasn't read a book since high school and couldn't pass a Comp I class writing "emotional" "character driven" stories
>>342654764
God damn I fucking hate Sniper Rifles so fucking much
>>342656549
This. Especially quest markers.
The worst part is that you can't even turn that shit off since NPCs no longer give you any directions. It's always just "Updated my GPS".
>>342656549
Agreed.
Also I just want to point out that one of the reasons why "detecto vision" has become so widespread is because developers have become shit at conveying enemy locations and movement through sound.

>yfw you saw the first microtransaction in WoW and it was that ugly ass horse
Or was it?
I'm not counting paid transfers
>>342655523
They turned games from fast paced games of skill where manual dexterity, planning, reactions, tactics, movement, spacial awareness, memory, and ingenuity were all tested. Games where the best player wins every time and the only way to succeed was to get good.
Iron sights threw all of this out and made shooter boring drab 'realistic' garbage where death is random, sudden, and pointless. The only skill required is twitch reflexes and the skill ceiling is ankle high. Players don't have to learn how to move, there is no techinques to learn, just run in and click on them before they click on you.
No single mechanic ruined games more than Iron Sights ruined the shooter.
>>342656549
>only for it all to be rendered next to useless since the player would only be staring at icons and highlighted silhouettes
This shit right here. Not to mention it lets world designers get away with lifeless worlds where you can't tell one area from another because they're gonna be pulling you everywhere by the dick anyways
>>342656549
>wander around an open field for hours because there are no directions in the game
>there could be a map waypoint or something to help be nope, nothing at all
Fun
Crates, lootboxes or whatever gachapon shit they put in games these days. I only buy cosmetic shit when I know what I am getting.
>>342660953
are you a bethesda playtester?
>>342660589
That is some high-level lunacy, anon.
>>342661142
>are you a playtester?
FTFY
>>342661142
No but I don't like the idea of have zero directions to a spot on the map.
Having to follow directions to a place like real life seems like a pain in the ass.
>>342655730
mad
>>342660589
>where death is random, sudden, and pointless.
kinda like irl, so deep, anon.
Anything that aims for you
>>342660589
You sound just plain salty that your favorite kind of shooter fell out of style in the early 2000's
>>342660953
>or something to help be nope, nothing at all
or maybe y'know, you get instructions on where to go, and the map is actually designed so that it's clear where you're going and where you'e been, though I'm guessing you haven't played any game released before 2006 so you wouldn't even know that that's an option.
>>342661915
this right there makes me fucking mad, not only every console fps had a form of assisted aiming but most consolebabbies don't know about it and actually think they could beat a PC player just becouse they demolish them with a controller on a console
>>342660589
Multiplayer games inherently rely on talent, not skill.
Looking at a man through binoculars and you're suddenly a superhero who can see through solid objects.
