The new content is essentially the fixed gameplay, a new midboss per each area and boss rush. It also lets you play with the original gameplay but also adds a menu that lets you do some fine tweaking to certain things if you want an inbetween the refined and classic gameplay.

quick tips:
Stop eating fruit when you get the restaurant unlocked and instead only use fruit as ingredients for dishes
Always drink yogurt before going into restaurants, their xp buff for food is retained in there, time is frozen when in the menu so don't worry about taking your time to order things.
Try to get the ability that recovers POW when an enemy is defeated quickly with every character because it's always useful.
