The ability to move in the virtual space without hindrance to the physical space of the real world.

Staying in a single spot is shit.

actual good videogames
>>
>>342625527
They have that. Most VR games that I have seen give the player a teleport ability to move around
>>
>>342625527
Try a VR demo where you aren't locked down to one spot.

You'll see why they lock you down afterwards.

Search up the Virtuix Omni, I'm personally holding out of VR until things like this become the norm for VR developers to keep in mind and implement. Doubly so if an MMO revolves around VR and VR treadmill.

Yeah, you probably want to use AR outside instead so you can react. A hud popup can tell you if a negro is about to culturally enrich you.
>>
>>342627221
mobile tracking could include stuff like cars and people

>>342627327
no, mobile tracking has to be aware of your surroundings, so the game world can automatically be mapped to it

>>
>>342625048
Just good video games. These images instill within me such an intense sadness that I never want to simulate real life in VR. It's less sad to be alone than to live in a fantasy setting where you aren't then having to go to sleep every night realizing that it was all fake.

It's basically those dreams where you have a girlfriend who loves you then you wake up.

>>
>>342627628
rendering your actual environment would be rather pointless

what I mean is more like detecting tall static obstacle and rendering some ingame tree instead
stuff like this doesn't need additional processing power
only making the mobile tracking work that well in the first place is difficult
>>
>>342625175
A game where I play as a woman who gets fatter and fatter.
>>
>>342625048

>>
>>342625048
Actual VR. Touch, smell, etc are simulated as well. Essentially, every single one of your 5 senses needs to be immersed and lead to believe that this is real with no view into the world outside that.

Also if VR is stuck in this "teleport around" shit, it needs to die now. No one wants this.

>>342629053

If Jamal is robbing you outside your home, you likely live in a poor ghetto or the projects in which case, getting your shit stolen is the least of your problems and the police aren't coming to help.

>Most VR games that I have seen give the player a teleport ability to move around

I hope they come out with a new tech for this. While it's better than being stuck in one spot it still isn't very good flashing forward just to move. If they can master movement I bet VR will take off even more.

>>
>>342630709
VR won't take off until they figure out how to do reliable real-time mocap and omni directional treadmills are affordable and can be used in conjunction with the VR experience.

Imagine an MMO where you're literally in the game, making your own movements, walking in real time. That's what people are expecting with VR, and what they're getting is "sit at a desk" simulators.
>>
I want fucking SAO level VR. I want to let my real body stay hooked up to an IV as I waste away my entire life in the comfort of a fully VR life
>>
>>342626219
>>342625527
The best solution right now is just keeping the player on a vehicle so you still have some point of reference. A VR-only mech MMO would be cool.
>>
>>342627327
>btw wouldnt you just run into everything outside even with mobile tracking
yeah, though it would work really well on an empty field or in a gym
