Due to being a retard I bent a bunch of pins on my CPU while applying a new coat of thermal paste and now my computer is out of commission until I save up for a new CPU.
However, I still have my dusty ass PS4 that I never touched. What are some good PS4 games?
>>342617285
Bloodborne
inFAMOUS Second Son (altough 2 is better)
Batman Arkham Knight
Uncharted 4
Disgaea 5
Warframe (F2P)

Abd many more
>>342617285
>Due to being a retard I bent a bunch of pins on my CPU
Literally HOW?
As far as I know you don't have to take the fucking processor off the motherboard, you just have to remove your cooler, clean that and the processor, and then apply new paste.
>What are some good PS4 games?
Bloodborne
>AMD cpu
Kek
>bent a bunch of pins on my CPU while applying a new coat of thermal paste
You dont have to even see the pins to apply thermal paste what the fuck are you talking about
>pin CPU
>2016
christ
You could get a new CPU, motherboard and ram for the price of a few PS4 games.
Op applied paste to the pins.
This is some low-quality bait. How is it any fun if you're not gonna put in some effort?

With some pliers, patience, and a steady hand, you might be able to unbend the pins. I've done it before.
>>342618693
it's AMD hardware. who gives a shit?

>>342617694
Not OP, but the last time I added thermal paste to my CPU, the CPU got out 'cos it fused together with the thermal paste. Luckily I am not OP and just put it back it with no problems.
No clue how he bent the pins tho, maybe he forgot to release the "safety lever thingy" that keeps the processor in place before attempting to put it back.
>>342618979
how is that motherboard not ruined

This is why retards should never mess with computer parts.
>>342617285
get you the smallest flathead screwdriver you can find in a glasses repair kit or some other sort of thin but rigid tool and bend them all back. You can use the straight ones as reference but as long as you dont snap off the pins it isn't broken.
>>342617285
If it isn't bad you can try straightening them with an empty mechanical pencil. Better than nothing. How the fuck did you even do that?
Also, AMD still uses pins? It's been years since I've fucked with that garbage.
>>342619439
But if you use the lock pin it would increase the force + gravity is force right??
>>342619505
Stop being retarded
>>342618990
I've done it before. The paste sealed the heatsink to the cpu and I put a little too much elbow grease into it. It snapped the cpu free from the board, bending a few pins. I was sweating bullets the whole time trying to put them back into place.
>>342617820
I got my CPU like five years ago and that doesn't have pins, and also why were you even going near the pins to apply thermal paste?
Nothing about this adds up,
[X] Doubt.

Why would it be ruined? If you apply too much thermal paste, you just get a diminished effect.
If some leaked out around the seal, it's not going to hurt anything except to make a fucking mess

OP here. Some clarification.
I removed the heatsink but the previous paste had hardened and the CPU came out with the heatsink.
During this time is when I bent pins.
>>342622412

it's a bait and switch. this is just a regular ps4 thread that uses the pins as a maneuver to not talk about PC gaming. anyone falling for this has been trolled.
OP post pics as proof
Bloodborne.
And how do you even fuck up your CPU pins?
>build your owc PC!
>it's just legos!
It's not the same when a single piece is worth few hundred $$ and is easy to fuck up.

You are also retarded for buying an AMD CPU.

>>342617285

>>342617285
You can fix it mate.
Had to fix my roommates pc when he did that, use a credit card and unbend. Hell if it's snapped off find out which area it goes and place it in the hole, sometimes it's enough to make a connection again
>>342617285
You can easily bend the pins back if you're careful.
Use a thin piece of plastic like a credit card.
>>342624392
I just take the pieces to shop and let them put it together for me.
>>342624723
That kind of depends how hard you fucked it.
As long as most of the pins are unbent it should be easy to unfuck though.
Technically, why bent pins fuck up the CPU?
>>342624909
Your local newsagents?

AMD cpus generally have more cores, but the cores are slower than intel cpus. Generally, pc games only use 1 core, so if you're gaming, Intel cpus are usually a better choice.

How do you clean off old thermal paste by the way? I'm pretty sure I need to reapply it on my work laptop since it idles at 60°C nowadays (fan and airflow is fine) but I've never done it before. I'm pretty sure I can't just scrub it off with steel wool.

there are still cpus with the actual pins on them? I thought all the non retard vendors put the pins on the motherboard instead. from the 1155 socket onward they even have this pin design where the pin isn't actually hardplanted into the plate, but instead kind of floating on a small gold plate that is very flexible and connected to the motherboard itself. makes it practically impossible to fuck shit up and if you do, its no problem to put it back into place
>>342634346
Oh man I feel you, when setting up my PC I thought I was just finishing up at 2am, so I figured I might as well put the fan in before I head to bed (also a hyper 212 evo). I was in bed at 5:30am.
