Seriously check out this game guys, it's by Hironobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy mainguy up until like FF8I think) and its got a fucking great story and cast, Im loving it so far. Gameplay is a weird action/rpg mix but its different enough to be interesting, flipping over teamates to protect them or ordering your mage to shoot a bridge and kill everyone on it never gets oldI seriously think this game is better than any Final Fantasy game I've played

Yeah, its certainly on my to-play list as well.. While we're listing them, The Last Story was part of a player-petition project called Operation Rainfall to help bring Wii JRPGs to NA/world release. The other two titles are worthwhile too..
Xenoblade Chronicles is the more famous of the titles and is another unique JRPG, tangentially linked to the astonishingly awesome Xenogears / Xenosaga series. I can't remember if it is important to get the EUR version for this one or not, if you want JP audio and better localization. Will have to look into that. Definitely on my Wii must play list. Its sequel, Xenoblade ChroniclesX is on WiiU and I cant' wait for proper WiiU emulation to run!
The other title is Pandora's Tower, which I hear is certainly worth a play as well. I know less about it than the other two, but feel free to check into it.
Overall, all 3 OpRainfall titles are worth it for Wii emulation, so look them up!

Dolphin aims to emulate certain hardware and it goes to great lengths to achieve that goal.
PCSX2, on the other hand, has been simply about getting their favorite games to work for a long ass time.
Just look at the fucking Jak & Dexter and Ratchet & Clank series.

Honestly, if you want a good PS2 emulator, the only way to get there is to cannibalize the insight into PS2 architecture garnered back in the day and make an entirely new project.

A lot of it goes back to the whole "Why is there SNES games on the New3DS but not regular 3DS even though we have emulators that work near perfectly now?" debate.
Basically, emulators are, at their core, workarounds, and people who use emulators are, necessarily, slightly looser on their definition of "perfect emulation" than a multi-million dollar company with legacy support in mind is supposed to be.
Very few and very lucky are the emulators and games that you can pop in and play just like a console. A lot of the time, you have to add patches or adjust frame skipping or fiddle with basic settings, SOMETHING to get the game to run right. And even then, there will be small things that you'll forgive, like framerate dips and jittering, maybe the occasional effect not rendering properly, lots of small things that don't mean much at all to you, but if Nintendo's going to do it, they're going to do it RIGHT, and it's going to be exactly 1:1 to the original game, and it's going to work EVERY TIME, and further, it's going to include support so it works on future hardware without much tweaking.
Sometimes, it just takes that long to get it right.

I just started playing TP HD last night and honestly it's awful, it's just ridiculously high res textures slapped onto low poly geometry with very little consideration for the overall aesthetic and texel density of a scene.
GC/Wii TP at a crisp resolution and smooth frame rate is all you need....and I honestly wish it was an option in the Wii U release to just enjoy the higher res and framerate without the third rate ass fuckery texture pack.

You see, when you emulate stuff, things can and will break for a while since some other hacks will surface and bite you in the ass.
And once you get rid of them, boom, half the library is unplayable again because hack numero tres relied on that fucking hack to work again.
Now, you cant do this shit by yourself nor is it a project for an afternoon, so you try and merge this better, less hacky emulator code into their codebase.
What do you think will those fucks do when you spit on their work, show how flawed it is and make their favorite pantsu simulator slightly less playable than it was with hacks (1 FPS to 0 FPS, oh my)?

GC version, there's a couple texture packs that make it look niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. There's one in particular, I can't remember what it's called but it's like the first result if you google it. It's a texture pack, but it's also a collection of shaders and UI options and even a couple character remodels. Makes the game look stupid amazing, if you've got the rig for it.
My favorite is one that desaturates the game slightly and COMPLETELY desaturates the Twilight realm, so it looks exactly like the early trailers.

Firstly, it's not emulating. The PS4 s a PC only with a shitty OS, it's running it natively. Secondly, it has fuck all drivers and things run like shit. Thirdly, you need an ancient version that's like 1 and a half years old to even be able to mod the thing.
The chances of us getting a working Xbox emulator is bigger than that going anywhere.
