Okay, I'm tired of /v/ constantly shitting on Battleborn just because it isn't some plastic game full of Barbie-doll women and generic male-power fantasy men with a few "unique" twists on stereotypes characters like Overwatch. Sure, the UI is a little cluttered when the game gets hectic, but it's clean and slick most of the time. It's got awesome gameplay, a full cast of badass Battleborns with unique abilities and tons of fully-voiced dialogue and banter, and has really cool gamemodes. Not only that, but Gearbox is even going to be adding new Battleborns, maps, and gamemodes as well as cosmetics for already existing characters. What does Overwatch have over Battleborn? Literally nothing. It requires no skill and is full of "Press Q To Win" moments while Battleborn actually required skill, tactics, and game knowledge. It's also on sale right now, so you can get it for really cheap and play one of the best games, if not the best game, of 2016. You should really stop trash-talking the game and Gearbox without even playing Battleborn.

None of the UI really bothered me honestly, it's a hell of a lot better than how it was from the Alpha images you see people use to shitpost (which is why you never see screenshots from the full release here).

I duno about you but I would rather have a game where it is easy to get ths hang of the core mechanics in a short amount of time than a game which has a metric fuckload of rules, game mechanics and other bullshit which you have to learn.
I enjoy overwatch because it keeps things simple. It's easy to get the hang of the core mechanics and from there its quite fun to learn how to play different characters.

OP is just shitposting. I'm one of the 3 people who played the game so I can tell you if you actually care.
I guess I'd describe Battleborn as a game with a lot of "depth" to it as in there's a lot of shit you can actually learn in order to improve.
The maps have a lot of shit going on depending on the mode and requires players to be on point about where they'd need to be in order to do well, like getting on the resources when they spawn in, or killing "jungle" mobs to recruit them to help push the fight in one of the modes.
There's resource management and trying to win by making the other team go broke. You have to juggle using your money between buying you 3 pieces of gear for stat boosts, repairing defenses that get blown up, and spawning in a giant robot to help push. You can effectively make a difference by killing enemy turrets and defenses so that they have to waste their money repairing them, and stealing their currency spawns.
The characters have a lot of ways to play them due to the upgrade system, every time you level up you choose between 2/3 different upgrades that can drastically change how the character plays. I could give an example but it might go on a bit too long.
I think Battleborn is a good game, it was just overpriced when it came out and the obvious comparisons to Overwatch made people think it's just a knockoff or some shit. If you've ever played Monday Night Combat I'd compare it to that but with deeper characters and better game modes. I think both it and Overwatch are solid 7/10 games that I like for different reasons, I just wish Battleborn would do better because I want to play it more often.

All this sounds like there are a lot of mechanics in the game that actually don't have to be there in the first place. I mean, it's nice to have the options but it sounds pretty convoluted and actually too convoluted for something that effectively is a first person shooter. I played during the beta and a lot of what I did that wasn't killing other players didn't give much feedback on how effective it was, the recruited jungle mobs seemed to die as easy as any other, turrets pretty much get rolled over, currency so easy to come by that even in losing matches I'd have all my upgrades on with enough to pop turrets back up even as they were melting. I actually really like how there's a lot going on with the game. One thing I'm still not sure I like 100% is the Gear system, it's cool and all but feels a bit too disconnected from the main gameplay, like if I were to bring along a full set of Shield Penetration gear on Oscar Mike and it turns out I'm fighting 5 Eldrid who have no shields. One thing that happened recently was that they fixed the jungle mobs in Incursion so that they never aggro on players, they just kill the bots and Sentry, I think they have them some new abilities that make pushing better too, like an attack that does massive damage to bots or something. I mainly play Meltdown since I like both the maps for it rather than just one for Incursion but I get what you mean.
The thing with turrets is I think they only work well when there's nobody trying to kill them actively, they're more for slowing down the bots, Thumper's are probably the best overall turret that you'd want to make sure if up and protected at all times.

a tremendous band of badass heroes fighting to protect the universe's very last star from a mysterious evil sounds really awesome.
