I've not heard anything about it other than people praising it so I grabbed it.
It's got quirks and some funny moments but as a game it's pretty garbage. It can be quite tedious at times as well.

It's overrated but not the worst thing to play.
If you go in spoiler-free it's actually pretty good although everything about it is mediocre aside from the twists, boss fights and music.

Gameplay is nothing special, not worth playing for.
Story is cliche, but its presentation is the selling point. If you like meta humor and unusual characters you might enjoy it. To me, it felt like a childish way of being as different as possible without actually having to actually have original ideas.
Its not horribly bad. It just doesn't give you any reason to actually play it when better games exist and it brings nothing unique to the table.
