Nope. A lot of the appeal of ML is typical genre-fiction stuff that you need to be a fan of to appreciate. Otherwise it'll just seem like a very long, very boring soap opera.
Read/play Ever17 if you want a VN that capitalizes on the cool atmosphere it exudes with up-to-par storytelling (unlike ML) and makes use of its cast and medium in the best ways possible. If an eroge gets popular, then the improved All-Ages version gets released for most consoles with added content and reworked scenes that are (imo) more truthful to what the author had in mind.
Once the developer gets big enough, they often completely give up on H-scenes. Like Type-Moon did for Mahoyo.
