B-B-But the internet told me Homefront: The Revolution was a broken piece of shit that was going to be abandoned immediately after launch because it was a desperate cash grap. How can they still be fixing it? How can they be making it run faster? I'm so confused.
>>
Where do you think we are?
>>
>>342586073
Hell?
>>
I forgot the first game existed.
Then I forgot they were making a sequel.
Then I forgot about the sequel until it launched.
Then I watched one video about bugs and forgot about the game existing yet again until you reminded me.

And now I'm gonna forget again in the next hour until someone else mentions it again.
>>
lol who cares it's a fuckin bad game
>>
>>342586129
Now now, all roads lead to same place.

Don't worry, I will be there to carry you over.

Purgatory.
>>
>>342586174
>lol who cares it's a fuckin bad game
But it's a good game? The game being bad is a meme, The only really 'bad' thing was the performance and bugs, which are being fixed at a steady pace. You're left with a very pretty CryEngine open world FPS that was intended to be an open world spiritual successor to Half Life.
>>
>>342586307
Ok that's better if not a tad bit existential
>>
Good luck patching out the cast of unlikeable faggots that make up the resistance
>>
>>342586026
On consoles, anon. It's otherwise a very checklist open-world game.
>>
>>342586631
>Good luck patching out the cast of unlikeable faggots that make up the resistance
Why would resistance members be likeable? Revolutionaries tend to be murderous assholes or deeply misguided simpletons who end up devoured by their own revolution. In this aspect, Homefront nails revolutions on the head where most games get all fuzzy wuzzy with their sympathetic cast.

Homefront 2 > Half Life 2.
>>
>>342586026
I might pick this up because of the setting, is the gunplay decent?
>>
>>342586705
I prefer to root for the guys I'm playing as, I was rooting for Korea the whole game
>>
>>342586026
>North Korea invades US
Why?
>>
>>342586705

Difference being, the rebels in Half-Life 2 were fighting for the survival of the human race.

>I might pick this up because of the setting, is the gunplay decent?
There's no easy answer to that question. I like the gunplay, but other people hate it. It's somewhat Crysis 3-esque, but with no crosshairs when aiming from the hip. You're encouraged to go for headshots, and there's even a Whhhhhhhhoooomph sound that plays when you get a headshot.

>>342586807
The backstory is that Korea invents personal computers and American invents shit and when America falls into economic ruin, the Koreans arrive to help and then never leave. They then turn into The Combine and start stripping America of its natural resources and pumping gas into the sewers. They even have The Mayor who is essentially Breen. (The lead dev wanted to make open world Half Life 2, and it shows.)
>>
>>342586026
When people don't even know the game is out it's failed.
>>
>only 25% off
Maybe some year I'll get it
>>
>>342586814
In Homefront, they're systematically stripping America of its natural resources. I think they're 15% done at the time of the game, and accelerating rapidly. They're kinda paradoxical, the KPA -- they're essentially CORPORATE evil. They're like Apple/Foxconn on a national scale. They do bad things not out of ideological malice, but because they want to build technology and sell said technology around the globe. They're technocratic.
>>
>>342586878
Well I would consider buying it if American invades NK and you have to fight back with museum weapons
>>
>>342586878
wait so they just ignored everything in the first homefront and just rebooted the series? I kinda liked the first game mostly because it pretty much predicted the death of kim jong il and kim jong un taking over spot on
>>
>>342587042
It's a total reboot. Complete clean slate. The entire backstory is different. The KPA are different to the Koreans in the first game. This KPA are essentially a parody of American exceptionalism. The whole game viewed carefully is a thinly disguised dig at how the current inhabitants of America stole the land that they're now rebelling to "free". A certain character who turns out to be a traitor to the resistance working for the KPA shouts, "We weren't here first!"

The KPA are doing bad things, but they bring a form of prosperity and stability to a savage America that has lost its way. When the rebels start blowing shit up, they slowly ramp up their response until they're in full crackdown mode. I think the deliberate implications of the story get ignored because you play a rebel who just does murderous rebel things.
>>
>>342586026
all the gamebreaking shit should have been fixed through more rigorous playtesting before release

it won't save sales numbers either
>>
this is a game I will be buying once they're done patching it. I'm thinking 3ish months from now it will be good and ready for a playthrough
>>
I wonder if Kim Jong un plays this game
>>
>>342587280
>all the gamebreaking shit should have been fixed through more rigorous playtesting before release
*cough* Fallout: New Vegas *cough*

>>342587280
>it won't save sales numbers either
I think they're playing the long game with this one, anon. There are three singleplayer expansions being released over the next 12 months or so. They're releasing all the MP content for free.

The game has potential to turn into a sleeper hit. There have been games in the past that launched rough, got savaged, then turned themselves around post-release and sold decently down the road. When the Steam user score starts climbing, which is fairly likely, it will cause a snowball effect where reluctant buyers go, "Oh, look, they've obviously fixed it now! And it's on sale!"
>>
>>342587434
New Vegas' Q&A was done by bethesda btw

>B-B-But the internet told me Homefront: The Revolution was a broken piece of shit
But it is a broken piece of shit, every single review for the game points that out. Everyone that bought the game has also pointed that out.

Don't see why you are trying to make out just because they are fixing a few things changes the fact it is a broken piece of shit.
>>
>>342586814
>Difference being, the rebels in Half-Life 2 were fighting for the survival of the human race.

And they're all essentially goodie goodies

Where was the actual strife and tough decisions that had to be made by the humans to survive on a day to day basis?

>But it is a broken piece of shit, every single review for the game points that out.

You mean libcucks like Jim Sterling?

Are you a shill?

Every single review points out that it is full of bugs. Why are you denying this?
>>
>>342588671
Not denying it, I just don't trust reviewers anymore. Maybe it's not that buggy but its flaws are played up by these idiots?

I'd prefer to play the game myself and judge but Denuvo won't let me pirate it.

All the bug fixes and optimization in the world won't matter if the underlying game is badly designed and unenjoyable.

Yup, pay $40 freedom bucks and get two games out at a time for 3 months. Play a shitload of games that I like but wouldn't probably want to spend $60 on.

Shills, the thing about this is that nobody cares.
Seriously, little people know this game exists, little people care, and it's a sequel no one asked for to a game that nobody gave a shit about, not a surprise it's such a massive flop and sold less than 10% of what the original Homefront did.

It's a unified Korea in this game, did you even play it?

Plus China consumes games now and wouldn't take being the bad guy well.

>Plus China consumes games now
It is not allowed to sell games in China that depict violence, and since it has Denuvo, no chink has probably played this game.
>>
>>342590704
Not really.
It's a cheap and generic Far Cry clone with no personality of it's own, and part of a franchise that no one will ever care about.
I don't even know why this game even exists.

China maybe. Soviet Union maybe. Hell maybe the rest of NATO. Not a unified Korea.

Greater Korean Republic may as well be North Korea btw.
