Bought it earlier, absolutely gorgeous.I had no fucking clue what I was doing, they kind of just crash land you and make you figure it out. Like, half of the things in my emergency pod are broken, so I needed a blowtorch to fix them. But I had no idea where to get the items to make the torch.

Then the mothership exploded and I died

>Subnautica
Have you tried Depth?
>>
So, can I kill the giant sea monsters, or just them killing me?
>>
>>342559247
Do you want a hand figuring it out?

Limestone outcrops will give you one of the following: copper, lead, or titanium. Sandstone gives you silver, or gold. Typically the former. quartz is collected raw and can be seen as pale crystalline formations. Likewise acid mushrooms. Crash powder is acquired from the crash plant. a fish that live in and explodes to defend the crash plant is called the crash, watch out for it as they make a very distinct sound as you approach. They hurt a lot but won't kill you in one hit typically unless you aren't at full health. Creepvines are in kelp forest. Tall kelp looking things. You can sometimes see glowing orange pods from them, which can be collected without a knife. A knife is needed to collect creep vine samples from them. A knife will also be necessary to collect table coral or common coral samples.

That should be enough information to start you off.
Get going.
>>
>>342559102
They consistently have updates but hey, its your choice
>>
>>342559686
You can kill them, but its completely pointless and a waste of resources.

What didn't you like about Salt and Sanctuary? Looks like fun, I'm big into Souls and Metroidvania so I thought I'd give it a go.

I'm cool with survival games, I was a sucker for Minecraft back in the day and I enjoy Rust and Terraria too. I'm guess it's more of the same, but with a new setting.

Magnesium is refined at the fabricator from salt. Salt is found in deposits and is white in color along the seabed here and there.

I really just couldn't get used to how the floaty the game felt.
It goes for a souls vibe, but nothing feels really deliberate. There's some depth to the dodging/jumping but I really hate how it feels. Also, I don't think the art for the characters is very good

At the moment nothing can harm the Cyclops except for depth pressure. Don't know if they'll make it so the Sea Dragon can damage it, but its designated spawn points are too deep for the Cyclops to reach anyway, you'll ned the Exosuit for the Inactive Lava Zone and the Active Lava Zone.

Though it can also spawn in the wide-open areas and in the Void off the map, but only rarely.

My impression was that the sea dragon was suppose to be spoopy but not necessarily hostile. It's story important apparently.

A lot of the pop-in is because at the moment the terraforming ability is still in, which means the ground is made up of lots and lots of little bits and pieces which kills framerates and causes lots of pop-in. They're removing it soon and that will fix a lot of those problems.

The only bad thing is it means this cool creature is being delayed until after the game launches, it was originally going to walk around destroying terrain. Maybe they'll have it attack your base on occasion.

You might be able to take a hit from one if you're at full health. There's a medkit fabricator in your life pod. Your health very slowly regenerates if your have food and water above 60% or 70%
>>
I cant wait for this game.
>>
>>342559457
What? You can kill anything, it's just usually faster to avoid them or send them away with the fuck-off gun.

They had plans to implement more uses for some of the plants like seasoning and expand cooking though I don't know if that's still in the works.

The pacifism bs has never been very adamant,
they're just not doing obvious boring stuff like shotguns and grenades.
You can kill anything with the knife given enough time, faster with the heat-knife and it'll cook the fish for you, you can use the propulsion gun to hurl fish against walls, the seamoth shock kills everything around you, and they're just adding gas torpedos and exosuit mining arms that are basically meat grinders when used on fish.
>>
>>342564903
Stasis Rifle and Propulsion Cannon work wonders on the Crashes. You can even use the little fuckers as weapons against Stalkers and other predators.

I would be more willing to buy it if the devs weren't so adamant about not giving the players options to protect themselves. I could get it if their argument was it was to keep tension high/keep the player from getting to powerful, though it would still be a bad argument since their are other ways to do that while still giving the players options. Their argument is because of Sandy Hook or something video games shouldn't have weapons anymore.

>>
>>342565743

>>
>>342565701
You do have ways to protect yourself, namely the Seamoth's torpedoes/area effect shock, the stasis rifle, the propulsion cannon, etc.

Do wish there were more effective ways of warding off Reapers though.
>>
>>342565754
I'm not picky when it comes to grafics.
>>
>>342565701
You have plenty to protect yourself with, you don't need guns and grenages and cannons and be able to go around shooting everything, that's not the point of the game. And who fucking cares what he says, if he wants to be a liberal tit then let him, the game's awesome and that's all that matters.

>>342565898
>>342565743
They're thinking about it, but it won't happen until some time after the game launches. Right now they're concentrating on the important things.
>>
>>342561987
it is super immersive, plus the scale of the creatures is impressive, they are way larger than they appear on a regular screen.
>>
>>342565805
>>342565872
You can still give the player options to defend themselves while maintaining tension. Make them difficult to craft, make it that the resources for ammo are super rare. And as I said, if their reasoning was to just keep the player weak I would be fine with it, but their stated reason is bullshit.

The recipe is hidden until you have magnetite, some things are like that.

>>342560889
Progression is actually a lot messier than it will eventually be.
They're still in the process of moving the fragments to pretty much just in wrecks and getting rid of the placeholder box for actual damaged versions of the items and machines.
>>
Why does everything look so bright? Really ruins the deep sea immersion
>>
What will the story be like in this game I wonder
>>
>>342566371
At the moment, what we know is the Precursors, who are the ones who left the Abandoned Bases and PDAs you find in several locations, turned themselves into the Warper creatures you'll find eventually (two of them did, anyway). They imprisoned the Emperor Leviathan for some reason. Their son, who didn't mutate, built a weapon to fight the Warpers with but he accidentally shot down the Aurora with it

So how do I replace the medkit fabricator? I just started a few hours ago but the medkit box in my escape pod is gone. There's just a gaping hole in the texture/mesh where you can look outside at the ocean, and you can open/close the invisible fabricator but not retrieve any medkits from it.

I sent a bug report but it's probably something I fucked up.
>>
>>342565754
They've actually made a lot of progress recently, now what annoys me more is the contrast between some of the newer better textures and the stuff they haven't gotten to.

I got the game from the sale, I'm not really familiar with this relatively new survival genre so it's got more of a learning curve than I expected.

I am enjoying the game though. Almost makes me want to buy into the VR gimmick

The "no weapons" is mostly bs and they've almost entirely abandoned the pretense with the gas torpedos.

I personally wouldn't want machineguns and plasma-blasters, the alternative solutions to threats is what makes it interesting especially as they add in more behaviors for the alien creatures.

So I notice you can't take the seamoth super deep anymore. Multiple pressure upgrades doesn't do anything.

Last time I was looking through one of these threads, some anon told me to hold off on buying it until release because the world stays the same each time you play
So if I start playing now, and upon official release there's early game content that I missed, if I want to experience it I have to start a new game and go through the same stuff again

I found a dark, large entrance to a GIGANTIC square room that hadn't loaded in or something and I swear to God it was the most terrifying thing being 700m down in a giant, pitch black cube room.
