The item balancing was kinda shit. If there was ever a game that needed skill ranking and "stock weapon only" mode, it's Tribes Ascend.

/v/ probably wouldn't even show up. Idiots would spam the thread with "LOLRIGHT HIREZ KEKSHILL" and "lel not ur presomal army"
On the other hand, reddit probably wouldn't give a fuck; most of the users there probably weren't even in middle school when the first game happened.

>>342554071
T:A was supported when FPS was the popular trend. LoL and DotA are massively popular, so HiRez looked at it and said "we should do that because it'll make us money."
Ra in arena is pretty fun, though. Just don't get hit and build full damage, and you delete people with your first ability and melt tanks with your ult.

I'd wager the average age on Reddit is much higher than it is here. Reddit used to be one of the shittiest places on the internet, but these days they actually like, talk about the subject their threads are about. It's kind of sad to admit but it's a lot better than here these days.

The voting is a mixed blessing; on one hand, it's surprisingly good at keeping there from being 16 threads about the same exact issue on the front page. On the other hand, it's pretty much the easiest way to make an extremely effective echo chamber.
>>
>>342555412
And really the only difference is that on reddit you get downvoted, on /v/ a million spergs start crying at you.
>>
>>342552152

>>
>>342555584
Tribes : Ascend. A couple years back 4chan played reddit in it and curb stomped them, and has been (rightly) rubbing in their faces since. Mostly just because reddit was so confident they were going to win.

I know they made the full comeback but you have to be losing to do that

That's not just it. On /v/, you have to wait 30 seconds (60 w/ image) before you can respond to as many of those retards as you want. On reddit, if you have a fuckton of downvotes because you don't like [popular thing] or you like [unpopular thing], you have to wait TEN MINUTES before you can respond to only one person.

Tribes will always have a special place in my heart. Im glad I could be in the threads when they were around. My favorite memory was when me and a friend would go jug/brute and shit on enemy gen rooms. It was on katabatic after an intense disco party and his keyboard broke and I told him to just keep lobbing mortars right down the main hallway. We held out till he ran out of ammo and he got the most kills on the team. Good times.
>>
>>342557286
Reddit challenged 4chan to a couple games of rush and conquest in BF3, then proceeded to start admin abusing mid game and kicking all of 4chans best players.

Ever since then, 4chan hasnt played reddit in anything because 4chan is so salty about BF3. Also, there isnt a whole lot of good competitive shooters out there.

In my personal opinion though, I think a reddit VS 4chan match of ranked Rainbow six siege would be pretty great.
>>
>>342557508
It really is a shame that incompetent devs and a stupidly stupid weapon system sent tribes to an early grave.
>>
>>342557609

I know that /v/ wasn't exactly great in 2012, but new /v/ is even worse. We have people that are ironically or faux competitive, bragging about their achievements in Smash or fighting games, but never providing proof, but they still want you to believe they are experts. I mean, I'm not the best Virtua Fighter player in the world, but I never claimed to be. Meanwhile, on /v/, you'll see people call it one of the best, most balanced fighting games in the world in threads about fighting games in general, but whenever I try to start a VF lobby or even a thread discussing it, I get nothing. And it's not just this game or fighting games, as some people like to meme about. It's every fucking game these days. Overwatch threads, when not being plagued by guys arguing about waifus, is plagued with "super legit pros" that only know how to pubstomp with their two or three bros at best.

Is that new? I tend to stay out of FotM and fighting game threads, so I wouldn't know if this lack of humility and modesty is a recent development. The closest I get to balancing arguments is just theorycrafting, usually for TF2.
>>
>>342552152

Rematch in Overwatch WHEN???
>>
>>342558242
kek /v/ already hates overwatch
>>
>>342560209
I don't really think it's new, but it's gotten a lot more prevalent with the amount of children posting on here via their mobile devices since they don't think they can ever be wrong and care more about looking smart than actually being right. We even have people shilling games they think are similar and superior in threads of games they don't like instead of just ignoring them. For example, whenever there's a thread about Yugioh games, we'll have guys ranting about how much better than Magic the Gathering is (which I actually agree with in some ways, but still, why bother going to a thread and insulting people you hate in an effort to get them to play the same game as you? Do you have stock in Wizards of the Coast, because surely you don't want to play with them.) This has sadly become the only way you can discuss certain franchises, even. Trying to start a thread about Digimon without also shitting on Pokemon doesn't lead to enough discourse for it to get bumped.

>>342557105
>Tribes has 103 weapons
and they were a joke, the real tribes games have ~10
>>
>>342561623
So the people making the threads are either

A) One of the people on the team that is so proud of winning a single video game match that he won't let it go

B) Some people that is super-duper impressed that some people he didn't know winning a game against some other people he doesn't know from a different website.

Both possibilities seem sad to me. The idea of a man being super proud that some random people beat some other people at a video game once 5 years ago sounds like the premise of a South Park episode or some hsit.
