Dangan Ronpa is pretty easy game, especially if you are used to the mystery/detective genre, but the characters are pretty fun, and yes the first chapter is already pretty easy on its own. Hope you set everything on the highest difficulty.
I'd say that the next chapter is one of the best, so stick with it.

Mikan is objectively the best girl in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and there is nothing literally nothing to change my mind. She is LITERALLY perfect, her hair, her face, her expressions, and she has ZERO (0) imperfections. I want to become ill so Mikan-san may take care of me and nurse me back to health. I want Mikan to teach me how to help others and she did to me when I /had/ depression.
Back in around 2014, I had bought a PS Vita after purchasing a 3DS. I've always been a big detective fan (I really love Umineko) so I purchased Danganronpa 1, I breezed through the game and I throughly enjoyed it, I really did. Danganronpa 2 was just released, the moment I saw promotional art of Tsumiki Mikan, I just knew, I knew, that she would be the best girl. Her purple hime haircut contrasting with her petite white skin and her gorgeous purple eyes, I knew she was going to best girl. I purchased Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair for the PS Vita. I maxed out my relationship with her then chapter 3 came around the corner...
I like to believe fan canon trumps canon in all cases, Mikan wouldn't have done that she is best girl. When I read her execution, I cried, it's called "itainoitaino(other Japanese)". Itai translates to "it hurts" in Japanese, imagine Mikan, the most innocent girl and the sweetest girl I've ever met (I was bullied in school by girls) saying "it hurts", I couldn't bear it. I never got past chapter 4, I didn't want to play anymore. I'm glad she is alive and hopefully she will (always) be best girl in danganronpa 3

Yeah, but complex like a Jackson Pollock painting, except if Pollock was blind, didn't know his canvas, and decided to bring Rube Goldberg along for the ride. Then, after they finished, some Japanese person came by and scribbled English graffiti all over it, prompting Pollock to return with Goldberg to jam the Jap's head in through the canvas. You know it was Pollock and Goldberg who slammed Moshi-moshi Nipnip-desu in through the canvas, but they used so many steps and contraptions to get to that point, that, honestly, it gets so fucking boring to get to the point where you manage to prove it.
Then, once the whole thing's been proved, you figure you know why it happened, except you don't. Turns out Pollock and Goldberg were actually love children from the Nip and his mistress, a third-degree blackbelt from Samoa. They were getting revenge for when that Nip caused their Samoan momma to fall off a ship, and regret taking the revenge too far. They end up crying over killing their Nip daddy, and you end up feeling bad because they pull all the tricks in the book to tug at your heart-strings.
How did having his head jammed through canvas kill the Jippo-Jap? I dunno, fucking magic, I guess. There was glass embedded, which Pollack knew, and he didn't expect Goldberg to set up the boot that would knock their Yellow Daddy through the canvas, so he ended up getting sliced and bled pink kool-aid everywhere.
After going through all this bullshit, Goldberg and Pollack are executed by being drowned by paint that's poured from a bucket that's knocked over by a swing that has a boot on it, powered by a donkey that gets slapped on the ass by a woman who was forcefed some drugs before coming by for the execution which is all done in awkward and ugly stop-motion.
At the end, the whole audience ejaculates applause at how deep the murder and the trial were, and how bad they felt for Nip, Pollock, and Goldberg, since they were told to cry by the OH BY THE WAY IT'S A GAME!
